Chapter Text

It was almost move-in day. Which means you’d have to get back to work soon. Oh joy… you needed to hire an all new team and try to beat the deadlines. It was stressing you out. But, you’d deal with that stress later. Right now, you were enjoying one on one time with your precious baby.

They were the light of your life and you would do anything to protect them. Even if that meant living with friends and constantly switching schools to keep them safe. This afternoon, you were having lunch with them and your best friend Alexa at a new Monster owned and run coffee shop. Alexa was an amazing friend, letting you and your baby crash at her place until you two moved in with Sans and Papyrus.

Okay, you say baby, but they aren’t really a baby anymore. Nova was almost eight years old and growing into their own. You were proud of the person they were growing into. You had some… concerns… However, taking Nova to a human therapist would create more problems than they would solve.

“You excited to go to your new house?” Alexa asked, fixing Nova’s hair for them.

“Yeah. I get to live with my two dads.”

Nova often called Sans and Papyrus their dads, however, never in front of them. The two skeletons were always Uncle Sans and Uncle Papyrus when in their company. You weren’t surprised that Nova saw them as father figures. They had been there since Nova was born and acted very much like fathers to your baby.

Sometimes it made you wonder if they’d be interested in having kids with you. But, that was a thought for a different day.

“I bet they’re excited to see you, too. Nova hasn’t seen the two since the accident, right?” Alexa asked you, turning to give you her full attention.

“Yeah… I’m kind of nervous. I haven’t told them everything about it. But that isn’t something you should discuss over the phone.”

How were you supposed to tell them that your child isn’t really your child anymore…?

“I’m sure it’ll be fine. Now, you have to tell me where you got this pink hair dye for my godchild.”

“Right. About that- oh! Would you look at that? We have to get going soon so you can get to work. Let me just use the restroom real quick.”

How were you supposed to explain that after Nova's accident that their hair had turned pink all on it's own? That it was their natural hair color now? The same with their eye. Nova once had beautiful, long, naturally white hair, orange eyes, and wore glasses.

After the accident, however, a weird looking scar appeared around their neck. Their hair had turned light pink and they kept it short. One of their eyes had turned purple and they said they didn't need glasses anymore, so they never wore them.

You didn't even know how it was possible. Didn't know what had caused it. Whatever it was had saved your child's life, so you were grateful. You just wish you knew what had happened.
