PREVIOUSLY ON SATAM RE-GENESIS:

Almost 10,000 years have passed since the human race annihilated itself in a terrible war. Since that time the animal life of the planet Earth, through adaptation to residual radiation left by the war, has evolved into the race known as Mobians and asserted dominion over the planet now known as Mobius. In the year 3237 of the Mobian Era, Sonic the Hedgehog finally proposes to his long time love Queen Sally Lyra Alisia Acorn only to be suddenly confronted by his heretofore unknown past in the form of his pre-arranged fiancée LADY AMELIA NADESICO ROSE. That past being that he is in fact OGILVIE MAURICE AMARABI, the heir to The Hedgemony, a country populated almost entirely by hedgehogs occupying the former Hawaiian Islands. This is later confirmed by Charles Hildyard, the man Sonic though was his Uncle but is really just his godfather. Warned by Uncle Chuck that resistance to The Hedgemony is futile, Sonic and Sally tearfully call off their engagement only to be immediately persuaded by Uncle Chuck to put it back on as Sally, being royalty and the heir to an ancient dynasty, has a greater claim to Sonic's hand than Lady Amelia does now. After another confrontation with Amy and her bodyguard, SILAS ROCKFORD, Sally and Sonic agree to travel to The Hedgemony along with Sally's two adopted children: Miles "Tails" Prower and Nicole Ellidy, and Baroness Rebecca Masterson (alias Bunnie Rabbot) as personal security in tow.

Little does Sonic know however that his mother, QUEEN ALEENA TELRU AMARABI, in pursuing her long lost son, has made a deal with the devil. That devil being the infamous Dr. Julian Robotnik who has escaped from The Void and is now going under the name EGGMAN. Via a three way deal conducted with the notorious Chaos Emerald collector BLANC WEISS (alias ROUGE THE BAT and The Silk White Specter), Aleena has unwittingly supplied Eggman with a sample of a highly radioactive metal known as NIBELIUM which brought about the near-extinction of humanity millennia before, and also is the material Sonic's Power Rings are made of, having decayed to a benign state after several millennia of being underwater in the Great Forest. Offered the promise of more Chaos Emeralds in his possession by Eggman, Rouge and her two subordinates PARNASSUS SLEET and RUDIGORE “DINGO” DINGLE agree to accompany him to The Hedgemony in order to acquire more Nibelium as it is now the only place left on Earth that contains a pure strain cache of it.

In The Hedgemony, Sonic finally meets his mother who is disturbed that he already has a fiancée. And to add insult to injury, that fiancée is the daughter of a man she previously felt slighted by when she wasn't invited to Sally's mother's funeral. Sonic also discovers he has twin siblings in the form of SONYA ENKER and MANAK ORIN AMARABI. Two children who have constantly lived in the shadow of their older, long thought dead, brother and have both been emotionally abused in his absence. Meanwhile Aleena takes a bizarre interest in Sally and shares with her not only the truth of Northamer and The Mandaras but also the terrifying secret that Mobian blood develops a blue glow when heated as a lingering remnant of Nibelium radiation. Sally also learns that Robotnik and Snively were humans and not space aliens after all, and Aleena becomes convinced that humanity is about to return to Earth.

Later that evening, Sonic, Sally, Tails, Bunnie, and Nicole are invited to dinner at the prestigious Casino Night Club by Sonya and Manak who are members of the house band for the night. After Sonic gives a rousing performance filling in for the band's ailing guitarist, he reveals that he's actually engaged to Sally, not Amy, creating a major PR nightmare for the Amarabis. Sonic and family are immediately taken into custody to prevent more potential embarrassment for Queen Aleena, and the other great houses of The Hedgemony.

Aleena banishes Sally, Tails, Bunnie, and Nicole from The Hedgemony under the pretense of maintaining genetic purity for the Amarabi bloodline. Secretly however, she plans to murder all four of them with a bomb placed on the boat sending them back to Northamer. Sonya and Manak discover this and successfully warn Sally of Aleena's plot. In the end, Tails, Nicole, and Bunnie are able to escape from The Hedgemony's knights but Sally is recaptured. As for Sonya and Manak, they are tossed in a dungeon with their older brother and finally share the truth of The Hedgemony to him: that the country uses a strict system of family planning and euthanasia to keep its population levels under control. Sonya and Manak were able to be born because of the disappearance of Sonic and his father Juisaia Grenadine seventeen years before, yet despite this, their mother has never loved them and considers them embarrassments leading to a collective sense of self-loathing for the two. This is especially hard in the case of Manak who reveals his green fur is the result of a failed attempt to dye himself blue in order to get his mother to notice him. Meanwhile. Sally finally confronts Aleena who shares WHY she needs Sally to die, in order to seize control of Northamer and provide a place for hedgehogs to breed and live long happy lives without the threat of overpopulation. Sally is then rescued by Amy Rose who has been informed by Aleena that her own family euthanized her grandfather, Elizer Rose, so that she could have a sister, TANIA. After releasing Sonic, Sonya, and Manak from their cell, Amy gives Sonic a massive kiss in order to spite Manak. As the other four flee the dungeon, Amy seems bewildered over how different it is to kiss a man, because, unbeknownst to almost everyone but her closest family members, Amy Rose is actually gay and in a secret relationship with CHLOE BOLLINGER, her personal secretary at her family's trading company branch.

Elsewhere outside Amarabi Palace, Tails, Bunnie, and Nikki are pursued through the city of Green Hill by the Knights of the Hedgemony. While attempting to get away, they are surprised by their old friend, Knuckles The Echidna, who has come to The Hedgemony in pursuit of Rouge. After discovering Rouge was seen by Tails the previous night at the Casino Night Club, the group are lead into a series of lava vein tunnels underneath Green Hill and are reunited with Sonic, Sally, Sonya, and Manak. However their attempt to escape the country is thwarted when they encounter Eggman in an underground harbor. Here, Eggman reveals the use for the Nibelium ring given to him by Aleena: to power the Eggsterminator 3000, a battlemech armed with two kinds of death lasers. Eggman buries Sonic and company, plus Rouge, Sleet, and Dingo, whom he has unsurprisingly betrayed, under a rock slide and proceeds to go on a killing rampage in the streets of Green Hill. Amy, who was in the process of being banished due to releasing Sonic and Sally from captivity, is caught up in the mayhem, only barely surviving after her lover sacrifices herself to save Amy from being crushed by Rose Trading Company's collapsing roof. Wandering dazed through the dead, burnt remains of downtown Green Hill, Amy is saved by the arrival of The Chaotix comprised of Vector, Mighty, Ray, Espio, Charmy, and newly recruited sniper HACHIKO "WHISPER" MATSUBARA who were sent to The Hedgemony after Knuckles failed to report in due to a broken radio on the very cheap boat he arrived on. They are soon reunited with Sonic and company who have escaped the rock slide thanks to Knuckles' fists.

After a short respite where Sally cares for the shellshocked Amy and Nicole shares with Knuckles that she is one of the survivors of the Furville Massacre, but does not blame him for it despite being the last surviving Echidna, the group elects to head back underground and sneak into Amarabi Palace. While exploring the tunnels, Sally stumbles upon a group of hedgehog refugees who fled to these tunnels and swear their allegiance to her. Led into the castle vault, Sonic and Sally are reunited with weapons they brought in the event of an emergency: Sally's crossbow: Old Reliable, and a power ring for Sonic, now revealed to also be made out of Nibelium but now safe and inert due to decay from the elements. Sonic reveals that he has survived to Eggman and a battle breaks out which results in the destruction of the Eggsterminator's main death ray by means of a red Chaos Emerald given to Rouge by Eggman as payment for the initial Nibelium ring. With his main weapon partially destroyed, Eggman flees for Lava Reef Power Complex, the place the Nibelium is kept, with Sonic in hot pursuit. After an attempt by Eggman to blast Sonic with a Nibelium fireball causes the Control Center for Lava Reef to collapse, the sinking of the Eggstermintor into the lava triggers the eruption of Mauna Loa, the volcano Lava Reef is built into, destroying it and all the Nibelium in the process. Sonic is reunited with Sally and their two kids and they watch the volcano continue to erupt together as Amy tells Aleena to give up and let Sally marry Sonic already.

The next day, Sally reports to Aleena that no help to rebuild the chaos caused by Eggman is coming for her from the Alliance of Independent Nations due to Aleena's belligerent actions against Northamer. Sally then offers to aid Aleena but on two conditions: that The Hedgemony be annexed into the United Federation of Northamer, and that Aleena finally condone Sonic and Sally's marriage. Begrudgingly Aleena accepts Sally's offer but with the exception of someone standing in her place during meetings of the table of lords. That person is Amy who wants to get far away from The Hedgemony and Green Hill following the nightmarish tragedy of the previous day. Several weeks later, following their return to Northamer, Sonic and Sally are finally wed in Seaside City south of Mobotropolis and the other regional Overwatches discover the horror that befell the Hedgemony Islands and what it has done to Amy Rose. Elsewhere at the reception, Aleena is reunited with Charles who reveals that it was Sonic's father Juisaia who faked their deaths and killed several hundred Hedgemony soldiers in the process. Charles is then horrified by the revelation that Aleena has had two more children, who were produced as the result of Aleena sexually abusing Juisaia just before he disappeared, and for that reason she cannot love them. Finally, Sonic and Sally elect to spend their honeymoon in Soleanna and leave during the night. Little do they know, however, that Eggman survived the eruption of the volcano and has managed to get away with much of the Nibelium that was in The Hedgemony. Its nefarious purpose involving a project on a far off place off the coast of Efrica called Lemur Island...

Chapter Text

ACT I

EXT. NOTHING

WE BEGIN IN PITCH DARKNESS. NOTHING CAN BE SEEN. AND OVER IT...A NARRATOR (PLAYED, AS IN SEASON ONE, BY THE VOICE OF ARISTOTLE ACORN).

NARRATOR: (V.O.) First there was only darkness, for in every beginning it is always dark. And then...Light came.

A PULSATING WHITE LIGHT APPEARS OUT OF THE DARKNESS. IT BEGINS TO GROW IN INTENSITY.

NARRATOR: (V.O.) And from the Light came all things. All planets, all galaxies. On one such planet, it decided to do something special. It created life.

CUT TO:

EXT. EARTH, PRE-HISTORY.

THE PLANET, EARTH, APPEARS BEFORE US. IT IS PREHISTORIC TIMES: THE PANGAEA SUPER CONTINENT. DINOSAURS ROAM THE EARTH.

NARRATOR: (V.O.) Its first attempt was a failure. A race of giant lizards. The Light was forced to destroy them. Start all over again.

CUT TO:

EXT. SPACE

AN ASTEROID FLIES THROUGH SPACE TOWARDS EARTH, HITTING IT. THE RESULTING DAMAGE CAUSES THE EXTINCTION OF THE DINOSAURS.

NARRATOR: (V.O.)The Light would spend thousands upon thousands of years trying to find a proper master for its world. And as it did so. It reshaped its world, many times.

CONTINENTS BEGIN TO SHIFT TO PRODUCE A VERY RECOGNIZABLE PLANET EARTH.

NARRATOR: (V.O.) Eventually the Light found the perfect fit for its world. A race of warm blooded mammals that walked on two legs. They were called...humans.

MONTAGE: OVER TENS OF THOUSANDS OF YEARS HOMO SAPIENS COME INTO EXISTANCE AND HUNT ANIMALS FOR FOOD, BUILD SHELTERS, AND ERECT THE FIRST SIGNS OF CIVILIZATION BEFORE HURTLING INTO THE MODERN ERA WITH THE RISE OF GOVERNMENTS, TECHNOLOGY, AND GLOBAL CONFLICT.

NARRATOR: (V.O.)But the humans had a flaw. A terrible one. And that was an inability to live with each other in harmony. And they would fight amongst themselves for dominance of the planet. Eventually full scale wars broke out, and it was hoped by the survivors that such aggressive actions would never happen again...

CUT TO BLACK

NARRATOR: (V.O.) ...But they did.

CUT TO:

EXT. SKYLINE OF NEW YORK, CIRCA 22ND CENTURY

A MASSIVE BLUE MUSHROOM CLOUD SUDDENLY APPEARS OVER NYC. DISINTEGRATING EVERYTHING IN ITS PATH. THIS IS THE POWER OF NIBELIUM, THE SUPER METAL INTRODUCED IN THE PREVIOUS SEASON.

CUT TO:

EXT. EARTH FROM ORBIT

MORE BLUE EXPLOSIONS ARE SEEN FROM THE UPPER ATMOSPHERE AS THE NIBELIUM WAR BRINGS ABOUT THE VIRTUAL EXTINCTION OF THE HUMAN RACE.

NARRATOR: (V.O.) The humans, through their carelessness, their greed, and their obsession with dominance, destroyed themselves. And the Light wept over its apparent failure. Life on that planet was apparently over but then...something happened...

CUT TO:

EXT. FOREST, SOMEWHERE IN THE (FORMER) UNITED STATES

FOREST ANIMALS IN LESS DENSELY POPULATED AREAS, GRAZE AND GO ABOUT THEIR LIVES BLISSFULLY UNAWARE OF THE NUCLEAR HORROR AROUND THEM. A FAMILY OF BEAVERS BUILDS A DAM BUT THEN ONE DOES SOMETHING UNSUAL...IT GETS ON TWO LEGS INSTEAD OF FOUR AND ITS EYES CHANGE TO SOMETHING MORE HUMAN LOOKING.

NARRATOR: (V.O.) The planet chose new masters...It chose...the Mobians.

MONTAGE: MOBIAN HISTORY COMPRESSED DOWN TO A FEW MINUTES. THE VIOLENCE OF THE CHAOS ERA. THE DAWN OF THE ANCIENT DYNASTIES AND THE RISE OF ELDRIC ACORN. THE TYRANNY OF THE ECHIDNA DOMINION. THE EMERGENCE OF JULIAN ROBOTNIK...

NARRATOR: (V.O.) Like the humans before them, they were not perfect creatures. They would fight amongst themselves and struggle to survive. But they would rebuild what had been lost. And eventually they would find peace and joy amongst themselves and their friends. Until one day...when those that had escaped their fate in the past...returned...to the future.

THE FINAL IMAGE IS THAT OF THE ROYAL FAMILY OF THE UNITED FEDERATION OF NORTHAMER: LORD SONIC OGILVIE MAURICE AMARABI, HIS WIFE QUEEN SALLY LYRA ALISIA ACORN; THEIR TWO ADOPTED CHILDREN: MILES PROWER, AND NICOLE ELLIDY; AND THEIR LONGTIME FRIENDS LORD ROTOR GREYBELLY, SIR ANTOINE DEPARDIEU, AND BARONESS REBECCA MASTERSON. IT IS A PHOTO TAKEN OF THE GROUP FOLLOWING SONIC AND SALLY'S RETURN FROM THEIR HONEYMOON IN THE PRINCIPALITY OF SOLEANNA THE PREVIOUS YEAR. WE SLOWLY ZOOM IN ON IT.

FADE OUT.

FADE IN:

EXT. EFRICA, THE VELDT

Cicadas fill the air as well the wind blowing the grass. Suddenly a light brown rabbit wearing an orange dress (CREAM) runs across the screen and turns to the camera

VANILLA: (o.S.) (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) Cream! Don't run too far off ok?

CREAM: (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) Yes, Mama!

We see the owner of the first voice, VANILLA. A rabbit in a long dress setting out her laundry to dry on a clothesline. She watches as her daughter cream runs off into the tall grass before resuming with her laundry. She picks up one and notices there's still a large spot on it.

VANILLA: Chiii...

She throws it back into the pile.

VANILLA: (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) I guess it can't be helped...

Suddenly the wind seems to stop, as do the sounds of the insects. Vanilla notices it and looks around.

VANILLA: (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) Cream...Cream...? Where are you???

CUT TO:

EXT. EFRICA, THE VELDT, ELSEWHERE - MAGIC HOUR

Cream is having a pretend tea party with a stuffed toy of hers. A blue creature with buttons for eyes and a strange looking ball on its head (IE: A Chao). She "pours" it a "cup"

CREAM: (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) Here you go Cheese! A nice cup of tea! Would you like some biscuits to go with it?

Cream opens an empty container marked "Biscuits" (in katakana), she "feeds" one to Cheese.

CREAM: (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) Mmmm delicious!

Suddenly a shadow creeps over her, blotting out the sun. Cream notices and gets up only to see something truly terrifying to her. Three giant creatures wearing spacesuits: Humans. On their shoulders is a pointed circle containing the letter "G". They are from GUN. Cream's eyes widen in fear. All she can do is say...

CREAM: Dare...?

The three GUN Troopers look at the rabbit in front of them.

PERSHING: What is it?

MATCH CUT TO:

POV: SECOND GUN TROOPER

THE GUN TROOPER'S HELMET'S HUD DOES A SCAN OF CREAM. IT DISPLAYS "UNKNOWN LIFEFORM DETECTED".

MATCH CUT TO:

EXT. EFRICA, THE VELDT - MAGIC HOUR

The second GUN Trooper turns to his superior.

WATKINS: Scan comes up negative. It doesn't know!

PALOMAR: What do you mean it doesn't know?

WATKINS: That's what I said! It doesn't know!

CREAM: (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) Hello?

The GUN troopers quickly turn around.

PERSHING: It talks!

CREAM: (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) Are you here to come play with me?

PERSHING: What's it saying, Lieutenant?

WATKINS: I don't know! I...I think its Japanese!

PALOMAR: Japanese?!? The ECON???

WATKINS: I don't know!

PERSHING: You don't think they survived do you?

PALOMAR: And produce things like...wait...is...it a rabbit???

PERSHING: A talking rabbit that speaks Japanese. What is this? Some kind of anime?!?

The troopers have been so busy arguing amongst themselves that they have failed to notice Vanilla has appeared.

VANILLA: KUREAMU-CHAN!!!

CREAM: MAMA!!!

Cream runs over to her Mother. The troopers turn their attention to Vanilla.

PALOMAR: Oh crap...

VANILLA: (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) Who are you! What have you done to my daughter! Speak!

WATKINS: I...I think it's its mother...

PERSHING: What?!?

WATKINS: Look at the two! Clear family resemblance!

Vanilla pulls out a kitchen knife. Cream gets behind her.

VANILLA: (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) Keep away from me! Keep away from me and my daughter!

PERSHING: Whoa! Whoa! Whoa! Easy there lady! We're not going to hurt you!

The trooper turns to his two companions.

PERSHING: Do either of you speak Japanese?!?

WATKINS: No!

PALOMAR: Hoshi does, but he's still on the ship!

The first trooper turns back to Vanilla. He holds his hands up.

PERSHING: Uhhh....us? Fff-friends!

Vanilla looks at them and tries to understand.

VANILLA: (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) Common...They're speaking common... I...I don't understand common...

CREAM: Okaa-san...

VANILLA: (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) Cream, when I say run as fast and far away as you can. Understood?

CREAM: (SCARED) H-h-h-Hai.

Vanilla faces the troopers again.

PERSHING: Corporal...

PALOMAR: Yes sir?

PERSHING: Rifle on standby. 50mg of Xylazine.

PALOMAR: Yes sir.

The third GUN Trooper raises his tranquilizer rifle towards Vanilla. They start backing away. Vanilla sees the rifle and thinks its aimed at her daughter. She charges the troopers with her knife.

VANILLA: Kurimu-chan! Haiyaku!

Cream runs off into The Veldt. The three troopers attempt to withdraw.

PERSHING: Here she comes! Corporal!

PALOMAR: Right!

The GUN trooper fires a tranquilizer dart at Vanilla. Its a direct hit, she stumbles forward before passing out from its effects. The troopers run to her body. The first trooper removes his helmet to reveal a fair skinned blond male, ROSS PERSHING. He pulls out a communicator and speaks into it.

PERSHING: Pershing to base. Repeat. Pershing to base. Come in. Over.

The voice of the operator, PAMELA OSGOOD, comes through.

OSGOOD: (V.O.) This is base, Sergeant. Your report please?

PERSHING: Atmosphere is safe and hospitable. All traces of Nibelium radiation have dissipated. Earth is hospitable again but..

OSGOOD: (V.O.) But what Sergeant?

PERSHING: We have...encountered unknown lifeforms...and they are hostile...

OSGOOD: (V.O.) Repeat again. Hostile?

PERSHING: Yes. We have one tranquilized.

OSGOOD: (V.O.) Bring it to the C.O. in Landing Area 10. Over.

PERSHING: Roger.

Pershing looks to the two troopers who have now removed their helmets to reveal a fair haired man with glasses (MIKE WATKINS) and a black man with a crewcut (ROYCE PALOMAR). He looks down upon the sleeping rabbit woman at his feet.

PERSHING: What the hell happened...?

CUT TO:

EXT. EFRICA, THE VELDT, ELSEWHERE -- EVENING

CREAM CONTINUES TO RUN FURTHER AND FURTHER INTO THE EFRICAN SAVANNAH. EVENTUALLY SHE STOPS AT A CLIFF AND SEES ITS WIDE EXPANSE. TEARS DROP FROM HER FACE AS SHE REALIZES SHE IS COMPLETELY ALONE.

FADE TO BLACK.

FADE IN:

EXT. ACORN PALACE, MOBOTROPOLIS, UFN - MORNING

CAPTION: "MOBOTROPOLIS, UFN DOMAIN OF THE SOVEREIGN, D. 101 ME. 3238"

The sun rises over Acorn Palace's East balcony. Greeting it is SONIC THE HEDGEHOG, now Lord Protector of Northamer. He breathes in the fresh air. From behind him, the voice of his wife SALLY LYRA ALISIA ACORN can be heard.

SALLY: (O.S.) Up already?

SONIC: Yeah! Just had to soak in another beautiful Mobotropolis morning.

Sally gets up but we cannot see her face. Its hidden by the shadows.

SALLY: You know...I never really appreciated the dawn of a new day until I finally got here. My old room, which is now Miles and Nikki's, faced the other direction.

SONIC: And when we were in Knothole, the Great Forest blocked it out altogether.

SALLY: I know. That's why its now more special...

Sally finally emerges from the shadows and we see something about her has changed. Her hair has grown long. Very, VERY long.

SALLY: Because now I get to share it with you.

Sonic and Sally embrace. But Sonic's attention is immediately diverted to his wife's messy long locks.

SONIC: I thought you said you were going to cut it?

SALLY: Oh yeah. I did.

SONIC: Did it just grow back?

SALLY: Yes. Almost immediately.

SONIC: That's weird.

SALLY: Maybe its supposed to be this way. Your Mom has long hair.

SONIC: Yeah but my mom's a bit...weird.

SALLY: A bit???

Sonic laughs. The two reenter their bedroom.

CUT TO:

INT. ACORN PALACE, SONIC AND SALLY'S ROOM

Sally looks into her dressers mirror. Sonic gets out his running shoes (the "SOAP" ones from Sonic Adventure 2).

SONIC: So what's the itinerary for today oh great Queen of Northamer?

SALLY: Well lets see Prince Amarabi of the Hedgemony, I believe a certain lord of Northern Reach asked you to be at a dedication today...

SONIC: Oh yeah... Which reminds me, why aren't you coming Sal? Knothole is just as much your home as it was mine.

SALLY: Because its my day to take care of the kids remember? And Nikki wants to go to the park.

SONIC: Rats. Foiled again.

SALLY: Look Sonic, all you have to do is say a few words and cut a tape is that hard?

SONIC: No, but I should just feel the mother of the Freedom Fighters should be the one doing it.

SALLY: But Sonic...you're the hero of Mobius. If it wasn't for you we might have never made past the first couple of years in Knothole.

Sonic chuckles.

SONIC: Well when you put it THAT way...

Sonic pulls something out of his dresser. Its a box.

SONIC: Tell Rote I'll be there after my morning jog.

SALLY: I still can't believe the fastest thing alive is now going for jogs.

SONIC: Hey! I'm old enough to appreciate your great grandpa Eldric's taste in architecture! Don't wanna miss it!

Sally rolls her eyes. Sonic opens the box. Its an old Walkman. He comes over and kisses Sally on her muzzle.

SONIC: See ya later Granddaughter of an Alligator!

SALLY: You too!

Sally immediately realizes it.

SALLY: Oh Great Light...I AM a granddaughter of an alligator...

Sonic heads outside and pulls out a cassette tape. It reads "BEACH BOYS: PET SOUNDS. SOME DAY YOU'LL THANK ME. -- MOM" Sonic rolls his eyes and inserts the tape. Sonic gets ready to jog and presses play. "Wouldn't it be Nice" fills his head and he begins to jog right as he hits that opening beat.

CUT TO:

EXT. MOBOTROPOLIS, DOWNTOWN

SONIC JOGS THROUGH DOWNTOWN. HE WAVES HELLO TO SEVERAL PEOPLE HE PASSES BY (RECOGNIZABLE ONES INCLUDE RALPH CROCKER, PETER ENGERT, RAHM SHEARMUR AND HIS SISTER LANOLIN, AND LIONEL BOWSER). HE PASSES BY THE NEW OFFICE OF ROSE TRADING COMPANY IN MOBOTROPOLIS.

CUT TO:

INT. ROSE TRADING COMPANY

AMY ROSE fills out a inventory sheet and hands it to one of her employees, on the other side of the storefront is her chief clerk...BIG THE CAT. Sonic jogs by the office and waves.

SONIC: Morning Amy!

Amy waves.

BIG: MORNING SONIC!!!!

Big's bellowing causes the whole room to shake. Amy has to brace herself against a wall to keep things from falling over. Big looks embarassed.

BIG: Oh...sorry.

Amy gasps for air.

CUT TO:

EXT. MOBOTROPOLIS, DOWNTOWN

Sonic continues to jog. He passes by a chili dog stand. Its being operated by HAMILTON YAUCH. Hamilton tosses Sonic a Chili Dog.

HAMILTON: Hey Sonic! Catch!

Sonic catches the chili dog.

SONIC: Thanks Ham!

Sonic take a bite out of the chili dog.

SONIC: ...needs salt.

Sonic now passes by a building marked "UFN DEPARTMENT OF INFRASTRUCTURE LORD ROTOR GREYBELLY, CHIEF ADMINISTRATOR". ROTOR GREYBELLY steps out and waves to Sonic.

ROTOR: Hey!

SONIC: Mornin' Rote!

ROTOR: See you in the Great Forest in two hours!

SONIC: I'll be there!

EXT. STADIUM

SONIC'S FINAL STOP IS WHAT APPEARS TO BE AN OLD STADIUM. ITS BOWL SHAPE CONTAINS A GRASSY FIELD WIDE ENOUGH TO USE AS A TRACK. SONIC ASSUMES A RUNNING POSITION AND DOES LAP AFTER LAP AFTER LAP AROUND THE STADIUM, KICKING UP LOTS OF DUST AND DEBRIS AS HE RUNS. HE SIGHS FROM HIS WORKOUT AND LOOKS AT THE BOWL. ITS NOW GOT A PROPER DIRT TRACK. SONIC SMILES.

INT. ACORN PALACE, TAILS AND NICOLE'S ROOM

Sally opens a curtain to fill the room with light.

SALLY: Morning you two! Rise and shine!

Her adopted children, MILES "TAILS" PROWER and NICOLE ELLIDY groan from being jilted out of a nice long sleep.

TAILS: M-m-m-morning Mom...

NICOLE: Hi Mommy...

SALLY: Your father is busy today doing hero lord business, so I'm taking you to the park. How about that?

TAILS: That's ok. I guess...

SALLY: Come on Miles. Your Aunt Bunnie and Uncle Antoine will be there.

TAILS: Oh fine...

NICOLE: You really have been getting pouty ever since you turned 11, Miles.

TAILS: I'm not pouty, I just want to go back to sleep.

SALLY: Oh come on Miles. Up and at 'em. For me.

TAILS: Alright...

Tails gets out of bed finally. He walks passed his mother. Sally gets a whiff of him. That vintage morning BO stink.

SALLY: Miles!

TAILS: Huh?

SALLY: Bath.

TAILS: Oh...ok.

Tails heads to the bathroom. Sally looks at him and turns to Nicole.

SALLY: I don't know what to do about him sometimes.

NICOLE: Well he's getting older, Mommy. Things happen. They'll probably happen to me too eventually.

SALLY: Nikki, you're older than him. Heck you're already older than me!

NICOLE: Yeah but I was six years old for 13 years, Mommy. That's kinda...different.

SALLY: I guess it is.

Sally gets a whiff of Nicole.

SALLY: By the way you should join your brother. You both stink.

NICOLE: Alright...

Nicole leaves and Sally looks around at their room. Eventually her gaze rests on one part of it. A wall. She looks at it oddly, as if something is attracting her to it. Nicole turns and sees her mother look at the wall. Her eyes widen in fear.

NICOLE: Mommy...Mommy!!!!

Nicole runs to her mother's side. She hugs her and suddenly Sally is snapped back to reality.

SALLY: Huh? Wh-wh-what is it Nikki?

NICOLE: Are you alright?

SALLY: Yes. I'm fine. I was just...noticing this wall. I've never paid much attention to the walls of the palace, but...this one...

NICOLE: Mommy...I'm going to bathe with Miles, and then we're going to the park. Is that ok?

SALLY: Yeah, yeah, yeah of course.

NICOLE: Good.

Nicole leaves for the bathroom but turns back to her mother.

NICOLE: I love you Mommy. You know that right?

SALLY: Yes! Yes of course Nikki.

NICOLE: Good.

Nicole leaves. Sally turns back to the wall, shakes her head, and leaves.

EXT. KNOTHOLE FEDERAL MONUMENT, THE GREAT FOREST - MORNING

It maybe morning but in the Great Forest it is always dim and evening. A crowd of Mobians gathers around a platform with a podium. Stepping onto the platform are three individuals. Sonic, Rotor, and EMERICK LLOYD of Cascadia. Lloyd steps up to the podium and taps its mic.

EMERICK: Hello everyone! I'm Emerick Lloyd, Lord of Cascadia and head of the United Federation Parks Service. Today we are here to commemorate a very important moment in the history of Northamer. The years our beloved sovereign and her husband...

Sonic rolls his eyes hearing it phrased that way.

EMERICK: ...spent fighting the oppression of Julian Robotnik here. And now that we are finally free of him...

Sonic whispers something to Rotor.

EMERICK: ...we here at the Park Service and...

SONIC: (WHISPERING) They don't know...

EMERICK: ...the Department of Infrastructure felt to necessary to...

ROTOR: (WHISPERING) What?

EMERICK: ...honor the sacrifices made by the Freedom Fighters by...

SONIC: (WHISPERING) Robotnik. He came back and destroyed Green Hill.

EMERICK: ...rebuilding their home of Knothole just the way it was...

ROTOR: (WHISPERING) Well happily he died in that volcano.

EMERICK: ...before it was destroyed by Ixis Naugus and his forces. Today we have two of them here. First, the greatest hero our world has ever known...

SONIC: Oh brother...

EMERICK: Lord Protector of Northamer, Sonic Ogilvie Maurice Amarabi!

The crowd erupts in applause. Emerick signals for Sonic to come forward. Sonic takes the podium.

SONIC: Heh...hello! You know its really weird hearing that name here. Back when we were fighting Robotnik and Snively to retake Mobotropolis, I was just Sonic Hedgehog or Sonic T. Hedgehog when I felt like it.

A voice from the crowd shouts out.

CROWD MEMBER #1: Where's Sally?!?

Emerick quickly comes back to the podium.

EMERICK: How dare you refer to Her Royal Highness that way!

Sonic turns to Emerick.

SONIC: Oh no...he's right.

Emerick turns to Sonic with a "huh?" expression.

SONIC: We're here in the Great Forest, the domain of Mother Nature, And in the Great Forest...

ALL CROWD MEMBERS: TITLE MEANS NOTHING!

SONIC: Yup this is Knothole alright!

The crowd laughs and applauds.

SONIC: Anyway you got me because Sally's got the kids today. Ever since Rosie retired we've had to split our time watching them and this was Sally's day.

CROWD MEMBER #2: How's Little Tails?

SONIC: Fine! Older...crankier...but still lovable and fluffy! Also its Ant's day off from the Mobisport Garrison so he and Bun wanted to spend time with Sal.

ROTOR: Which means us blue collar guys have to work 9 to 5!

SONIC: Some things never change eh Rote?

ROTOR: Not gonna lie Sonic. My fishing hole in Northern Reach is missing its pole!

Sonic laughs and turns back to the crowd.

SONIC: Thank you all and enjoy the park!

Sonic steps away and Emerick retakes the podium.

EMERICK: And secondly, showing off the same razor sharp wit he demonstrates at the Table of Lords every two weeks...

Rotor grins.

EMERICK: Which is actually duller than my hacksaw back in Stumpton!

Rotor points at Emerick.

ROTOR: HEY!

Emerick sticks his tongue out at Rotor. Rotor wipes him off.

EMERICK: Lord Rotor Greybelly of Northern Reach, head of the Department of Infrastructure!

The crowd applauds Rotor as he takes the podium.

ROTOR: Well...it certainly took a while but we got it done.

Some reporters in the crowd come forward.

CROWD MEMBER #3: Lord Rotor...Oh...I mean Rotor.

ROTOR: Yes.

CROWD MEMBER #3: What's next for you now?

ROTOR: Well...I kinda lied. Knothole Federal Monument isn't actually done yet. Only Phase 1 is, the construction of the Replica itself. We were going to start building a museum and interpretive center as part of Phase 2, but they've been held back due to our reconstruction efforts in Mobisport and now Green Hill.

CROWD MEMBER #4: What exactly happened in Green Hill? Reports of something tragic and then the Hedgemony Islands becomes part of our country.

ROTOR: Uhhh....

Rotor notices there are some hedgehog refugees in the crowd. They are mouthing to him "Please...don't..."

ROTOR: That...is Classified Information. Next?

CROWD MEMBER #5: So how much of this is the original Knothole?

ROTOR: Not much. As you know the original village was completely destroyed by Ixis Naugus about three years ago now. However parts we had underground survived. We already took out all the arrows and Ion9 canisters and locked them up in Mobotropolis. So when you go on your tour all those are non-functioning plastic replicas. However the tunnel system is still there and still connects to Mobotropolis so in the event of a major disaster, we can all hide here!

SONIC: Just like the good old days...

ROTOR: Yeah the ones we NEVER want to go back to again.

The crowd uncomfortably laughs.

ROTOR: There is one other thing that's still operating Sonic.

SONIC: Really? What is it?

ROTOR: The Ring Forge! Its still underwater and producing after 9,000 years.

CROWD MEMBER #6: That thing is 9,000 years old?!?

ROTOR: Almost ten actually! It was built by the Humans, the ancient race of furless Giants our Droods called Mandaras. They destroyed themselves millennia ago and the Knothole Ring Forge is their legacy. We're leaving it on for now, but once the museum is open, we're going to dredge it out of the lake and shut it off for good.

SONIC: Guess I don't need rings anymore...

EMERICK: Anyway, once Phase 2 is complete, we will begin Phase 3. A full campground here in what we're calling Great Yosemite Federal Forest. A combination of our name for this place and theirs. Any more questions?

The reporters shake their heads.

ROTOR: Then I believe its time for the cutting of the tape.

EMERICK: Bring out boys.

Three members of the Parks Department appear with a long red ribbon and a pair of golden scissors. They hand the scissors to Sonic.

EMERICK: Lord Amarabi, may you do the honors?

SONIC: Certainly!

Sonic opens up the scissors.

SONIC: Could really use these to cut Sally's hair with now, its gotten so long.

The crowd laughs. Sonic takes the scissors to the tape and cuts it.

EMERICK: Knothole Federal Monument is officially open to the public!

ALL CROWD MEMBERS: YAY!

The crowd starts heading to Knothole. Rotor turns to Sonic.

ROTOR: Nicely done.

SONIC: You're welcome.

CUT TO:

EXT. MOBOTROPOLIS, DOWNTOWN

Sally and her children walk past Rose Trading Company. Suddenly Amy bursts out of the door behind them.

AMY: Aunt Sally!

Sally turns around.

SALLY: Oh! Hello Lady Amelia...

AMY: I was uh...wondering...

SALLY: Yes?

AMY: If we...could talk sometime.

Sally looks at Tails and Nicole.

SALLY: Uhh...not right now. I'm taking Miles and Nikki to Eldoran Park.

Amy looks a little dejected.

SALLY: ...unless you want to join me and Becca. I don't know if you enjoy coffee, its quite different from your Imperial Tea...

AMY: Uhh, no that's fine. Maybe some other time.

SALLY: If you want come by my chambers later today we can talk in private.

AMY: That would be nice, thank you.

Amy walks back into Rose Trading. Tails looks up to his mother.

TAILS: Cousin Amy's not getting better is she, Mom?

SALLY: In some ways she is Miles. But in others...she's getting worse.

CUT TO:

EXT. EFRICA, GUN LANDING SITE - EVENING

Several drop ships are landing on Earth. From out of them emerges a black man in grey khaki military fatigues. He is the COMMANDER of the GUN Forces. One of his subordinates, ANGELA CARTWRIGHT approaches him.

GUN COMMANDER: Report, Cartwright.

CARTWRIGHT: The area is clear, sir

GUN COMMANDER: And?

CARTWRIGHT: We've...found...something.

GUN COMMANDER: Found...something?

CARTWRIGHT: Yes. SERGEANT PERSHING! LIEUTENANT WATKINS!

Pershing and Watkins come over.

PERSHING: Ma'am!

CARTWRIGHT: Please tell the Commander what you told me.

PERSHING: *sigh* We're not alone.

GUN COMMANDER: Survivors? Ours? The ECON?

PERSHING: No. We had to tranquilize it. It was hostile.

GUN COMMANDER: ...it?

PERSHING: Palomar! Bring it over.

Palomar pushes over a caged box on casters. The gun commander opens the lid of it and sees Vanilla still asleep from the tranqulizer. His eyes widen...

GUN COMMANDER: What...What the hell is that?!?

PALOMAR: We don't know. But it attacked us.

WATKINS: Commander, is Lieutenant Hoshi here?

GUN COMMANDER: No. He's still on the Hephaestus. Why?

PALOMAR: Bring him down.

GUN COMMANDER: Why?

PERSHING: It speaks.

GUN COMMANDER: It...speaks...?

WATKINS: Japanese.

The GUN Commander looks away in disbelief.

PALOMAR: Commander, how long have we been gone?

GUN COMMANDER: Well its only been a few years for us after being unable to find a new home world for the survivors but...

WATKINS: But what?

GUN COMMANDER: According to our soil samples...Almost 10,000 years have passed.

Everyone looks at the rabbit.

CARTWRIGHT: Is this...is this what nature does when its left to its own devices? Turns itself into us?

PALOMAR: We might have helped.

GUN COMMANDER: Cartwright, contact Hoshi. Get him on the next drop ship down.

CARTWRIGHT: Yes Commander.

GUN COMMANDER: And Sergeant, next time you run into a talking rabbit who only speaks Japanese, don't try to antagonize it.

PERSHING: We honestly weren't trying too sir.

GUN COMMANDER: I suppose you weren't. If you saw strange giants in space suits you would probably react the same way.

WATKINS: There was another one. A smaller one. I think it might have been its daughter.

GUN COMMANDER: Did you collect her?

WATKINS: No she ran off.

GUN COMMANDER: Don't bother looking for her. She's probably dead already.

CUT TO:

EXT. ELDORAN PARK, MOBOTROPOLIS

Sally and BARONESS REBECCA "BUNNIE" MASTERSON are sitting on a picnic blanket. Bunnie pours two cups of coffee out of a thermos. She hands one to Sally who whiffs in its aroma.

SALLY: Ahhhhh...chicory...

BUNNIE: Better than that Kona stuff we had to drink in The Hedgemony huh?

SALLY: That's subjective Becca. Kona is a pretty high quality roast, but this...just takes me back.

BUNNIE: All those mornings by my stove.

SALLY: Yes. I suggested to Rotor that your hut should have a waterpot going at all times.

BUNNIE: Like that would actually work.

SALLY: I suppose not. Anyway...how has Cottontail Springs treated you?

BUNNIE: Well, for a house I was planning on burning to the ground, it's kinda grown on me.

Sally looks over to her two children who are being chased by their uncle SIR ANTOINE DEPARDIEU in the distance.

SALLY: And Ant?

BUNNIE: Well he wanted to keep it. He thought it would be a good place to raise a family. I wasn't so sure but, now that I've thought about it...

SALLY: He's a good guy. I really am happy for you two.

BUNNIE: Yeah, he was pretty bummed out during your wedding and then I came over and he finally realized it. That I always loved him, and was just waiting for the right moment.

SALLY: Are you...

BUNNIE: Maybe. Maybe soon. I feel its coming. And when it happens I'm going to do something finally.

SALLY: What's that?

Bunnie pulls the sleave up her left arm.

BUNNIE: Say goodbye.

SALLY: Oh Becca...you probably should have done that as soon Charles got the de-roboticizer working.

BUNNIE: I know...but I thought there was a point keeping them around. Maybe now you're right.

SALLY: Maybe...

BUNNIE: I still don't understand this though.

SALLY: Understand what?

BUNNIE: This.

Bunnie lightly grabs one of Sally's now arm length long locks of hair.

SALLY: Oh...yeah...I...I don't either. It just started growing after we got back from Soleanna.

BUNNIE: How was that by the way?

SALLY: Oh we had a wonderful time. Elise has invited us back whenever we want. We've finally been able to bury the hatchet over the Mobians Weekly thing and we're becoming close friends. But anyway...I tried cutting it, and its just kept growing and growing.

BUNNIE: Huh...

Antoine runs up to them, quite sweaty and exhausted.

ANTOINE: Does keedz. Dey keep me runneeng! Beckee, I dun't kno haow you dew eeet!

BUNNIE: Oh 'twon...its all in the legs. Do ya want help?

ANTOINE: Pleeze.

BUNNIE: Duty calls Your Highness.

SALLY: Go get 'em Baroness.

Bunnie enters the game of hide and seek. Sally watches as she grabs both Tails and Nicole within seconds and laughs.

CUT TO:

INT. HOLDING CHAMBER, GUN BASE CAMP, EFRICA - SEVERAL HOURS LATER

The chamber is made out of stainless steel and metal. A switch is flipped and Vanilla the rabbit begins to stir as the tranquilizer finally wears off. She woozily gets up and starts looking around.

VANILLA: (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) Where am I? What happened? Am I dead?

HOSHI: (V.O.) Ohayo Gozaimasu.

The voice is over an intercom. Vanilla looks for the source.

VANILLA: (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) Who said that?!? Where are you?

HOSHI: (V.O.) (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) I am not in the room with you. I am elsewhere.

VANILLA: (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) You speak my language. You speak Nipogo.

HOSHI: (V.O.) (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) Yes, I speak Japanese.

CUT TO:

INT. CONTROL ROOM, GUN BASE CAMP, EFRICA

Corporeal KENJI HOSHI looks over a monitor displaying Vanilla. Behind him are the GUN Commander and Lieutenant Cartwright.

VANILLA: (V.O.) (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) You...you speak...Japanese? Not Nipogo?

HOSHI: H--h-hai.

Hoshi turns around to face his superiors.

HOSHI: I think she thinks its "Nipogo" instead of "Nihongo".

CARTWRIGHT: You're talking to a rabbit and its over 9,000 years in the future, I'd give em a couple consonants.

HOSHI: Yeah sure.

Hoshi presses a button to turn on the mic.

HOSHI: (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) Are you from Japan?

VANILLA: (V.O.) (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) No Sol.

HOSHI: So--soru desu ka?

VANILLA: Hai.

Hoshi cuts the mic and turns to the Commander.

HOSHI: I think she says she's from Seoul?

CARTWRIGHT: She's Korean?!?

GUN COMMANDER: Cartwright...South Korea doesn't exist anymore. Nothing does.

CARTWRIGHT: Well talking rabbits that speak Japanese do.

Vanilla starts screaming on the intercom.

VANILLA: (V.O.) (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) Where is my daughter?!? Where is Cream? What have you done with her???

Everyone turns back to the screen. Hoshi switches back on the mic.

HOSHI: (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) The little girl?

CUT TO:

INT. HOLDING CHAMBER

Cut to Vanilla's side of the conversation.

HOSHI: (V.O.) (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) Are you its mother?

VANILLA: (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) It? What do you mean it? What kind of Mobians are you?!?

CUT TO:

INT. CONTROL ROOM

Hoshi looks confused and kills the mic.

GUN COMMANDER: What did she say?

HOSHI: She asked if we were...Mobians.

CARTWRIGHT: What the hell is a Mobian?

GUN COMMANDER: Apparently its a talking rabbit. Hoshi, tell her we're humans not whatever a Mobian is.

Hoshi turns the mic on.

HOSHI: (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) We are not Mobians. We are humans and this is our planet, Earth...

CUT TO:

INT. HOLDING CHAMBER

Vanilla reacts to the strange statement about her planet.

HOSHI: (V.O.) (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) We have returned after many thousands of years spent in space.

VANILLA: (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) Earth? What is Earth? This is not Earth.

HOSHI: (V.O.) (JAPANESE, SUBTITLED) Its not? What do you mean? What planet is this?

VANILLA: Mobiusu desu.

CUT TO:

INT. CONTROL ROOM

Hoshi kills the mic. He turns to the Commander.

GUN COMMANDER: What did she say?

HOSHI: She says this isn't Earth.

CARTWRIGHT: What? Of course it is!

HOSHI: Yes I know but she says we're on...Mobius.

GUN COMMANDER: Mobius?

PERSHING: (O.C.) What? You mean like that guy who made Heavy Metal?

Everyone turns to see Pershing standing there.

GUN COMMANDER: Heavy Metal? You mean like rock and roll?

PERSHING: No they're old French comic books, from a couple centuries ago. Didn't you see the old movie? The one where the hot chick flies on a pterodactyl?

GUN COMMANDER: Can't say I did. Hoshi, tell her we don't have and have done nothing to her daughter.

HOSHI: Affirmative.

The GUN Commander takes Pershing aside.

GUN COMMANDER: Pershing, take Gibbler and Francis. Go see if there are any more of these Mobians or whatever they're called around. If they speak English, strike up a conversation. If they don't or attack you, pacify 'em and bring em here.

PERSHING: Commander I don't think this is a good idea.

GUN COMMANDER: Yes but we need to know if we have to take more strenuous actions against the natives.

PERSHING: Copy that.

EXT. ACORN PALACE - AFTERNOON

ESTABLISHING SHOT OF ACORN PALACE, NOW WITH THE STATE FLAG OF CALIFORNIA FLYING ON A POLL NEXT TO THE ONE BELONGING TO THE UNITED FEDERATION.

CUT TO:

INT. ACORN PALACE, SALLY'S PRIVATE CHAMBER

Sally sits in her chair writing.

SFX: *door knock*

Sally's attention is directed to the door.

SALLY: Come in.

Amy enters carrying a parcel.

SALLY: Lady Amelia!

AMY: Hello Aunt Sally.

SALLY: Come! Sit.

Amy takes a chair.

SALLY: How are things?

AMY: Fine...

Sally stares at Amy, as if realizing she's hiding something.

AMY: ...no not really.

SALLY: What's wrong?

AMY: My parents, they want me to come home. To Sol. They think Rose Trading Company can run itself now.

SALLY: You've told them you can't.

AMY: Yes but...

SALLY: Have you told them why? Besides the fact that you're basically our liaison to the Hedgemony because Mother refuses to come to this city. That its not just what happened on that day.

AMY: No I haven't

SALLY: So they still don't know you know about Elizer.

AMY: No, they don't.

SALLY: What do you plan to do?

AMY: I don't know yet.

SALLY: Amy...You may have to consider it. At least to put that part of your life behind you.

AMY: I don't know if it will help. I don't feel like I'm making any progress.

SALLY: We in the council have been trying...

AMY: I know, Lupe and Rotor have been very nice to me, Ileana not so much...

SALLY: Yes that's just Ileana I'm afraid. What about the therapist we put you with?

AMY: Dr. Floyd been helping but...

SALLY: But...

AMY: I only feel comfortable with you.

Amy begins to shake from her PTSD (at least we THINK its her PTSD). Sally signals for her to come closer. Amy does so and lays her head in Sally's lap. Sally begins to pat it.

AMY: I...I...don't know what do anymore. I thought getting away from The Hedgemony, from Aleena, from Parminder and Mallora would help me but...

SALLY: But?

AMY: I think you're right. I think I am permanently broken. I think that girl who had tea with you that day is never coming back. All I see is the ash that blew around me in Green Hill. I see Chloe's leg under the roof. I see my life was nothing but murder and lies.

That triggers a bit of a response from Sally. She flashes back to finding Tails' father's body eight years ago.

SALLY: Amy I don't envy you at all. Sometimes I think my life was terrible, but, then I remember what happened to you that day and I can only imagine the horror you felt in the middle of all that carnage. And...I know you and Miss Bollinger were a couple who were deeply in love.

AMY: I haven't even told Dr. Floyd that. Its just you, Blaze-Chan, and Papa.

SALLY: Yes, and I do feel somewhat responsible for the chain of events that lead to her death. If you had told me, I would have done anything I could to help you.

AMY: Yes but the eyes of Aleena were everywhere, I was so afraid of what she would do to us if she learned and then...

SALLY: I understand. And you're right, you can't come back from it. However...

AMY: Yes Aunt Sally?

SALLY: You can't save Chloe but you CAN still put Elizer to rest. Go home. Get the true story from your parents. Put your mind at ease. Don't let what my mother told you the way she did govern your life.

AMY: You think I should?

SALLY: Yes. Amy, I've come to love you as a sister, even though we're now third cousins. But I am an orphan, and I was an orphan for many years even before I was briefly reunited with my father. You still have a family of your own. And that's why I can't give you the love you want.

Amy is surprised.

AMY: What?

SALLY: Your request. I can't fulfill it and Mobian Affairs wouldn't let me anyway. You see Amelia, all my children had was me and Sonic. Miles had already lost everything before he could walk, and Nicole's life was one tragedy after another until Sonic was able to bring us all together. But Parminder and Mallora still love you like you think I should, so go to them. Please.

AMY: I'll...I'll consider it.

Amy gets up and ready to leave but notices the package near her.

AMY: Oh! I forgot...this is for you.

Amy picks up the package and hands it to Sally.

SALLY: What is it?

AMY: Something that just came in from corporate.

Sally opens it to find its a t-shirt for Rose Trading Company.

SALLY: Oh.

AMY: Its updated. Look.

Sally looks and sees besides the usual locations of Green Hill, Soleanna, Chun-Nan and Edokyo two more have been added: Eastern Gate and Mobotropolis.

SALLY: Oh...

AMY: We don't sell them so, consider it a gift.

SALLY: Oh. Well, thank you.

Amy leaves but turns around again as she's stepping out the door.

AMY: Thank you again Aunt Sally. Thank you for everything.

SALLY: You're welcome Amy.

Amy finally exits. Sally looks at the shirt.

SALLY: Oh no...

CUT TO:

INT. GUN BASE CAMP, MAIN OPERATIONS

The GUN Commander enters the base. He walks over to the desk of his main communications officer, Osgood.

GUN COMMANDER: What is it Lieutenant? You wanted to see me?

OSGOOD: Yes Commander. About one hour ago our camp started...receiving a transmission.

GUN COMMANDER: A transmission???

OSGOOD: Yes. A coded one.

GUN COMMANDER: Code? What code?

OSGOOD: That's the thing...its one of ours.

The GUN Commander is taken aback. The thought that someone is broadcasting GUN codes in this time period is unfathomable.

GUN COMMANDER: What?

OSGOOD: Exactly. We've just spent the last few hours decoding it and...

GUN COMMANDER: And?

Osgood hands the Commander sevreal sheets of paper containing readouts.

OSGOOD: Its an SOS sir.

GUN COMMANDER: An SOS...

The GUN Commander starts looking over the readouts.

GUN COMMANDER: Osgood...

OSGOOD: Sir!

GUN COMMANDER: Where is this coming from?

OSGOOD: We're still trying to triangulate that, sir.

GUN COMMANDER: Fine. Keep me informed.

OSGOOD: Yes sir.

CUT TO:

INT. ACORN PALACE, DINING ROOM - EVENING

Sally, Tails, and Nicole are already seated. Sonic enters looking quite pooped.

SONIC: Hey everybody...

SALLY: Hello Dear.

Sally gives her husband a kiss.

TAILS: Sonic.

NICOLE: Daddy.

Sonic sits down at the dining room table.

SONIC: What a day...

SALLY: How did it go?

SONIC: Well...first I had to take the full walking tour. Then I had to pose for photos for several hours. Then I had to sign autographs for several MORE hours...

A wry grin appears on Sally's face.

SONIC: ...you stiffed me didn't you?

SALLY: Mmmm...maybe.

Sonic rolls his eyes.

SALLY: Besides I had to do two rounds of girl talk.

SONIC: Oh yeah, how's Bun doing with Ant?

SALLY: They're making headway. I think we might be having another wedding soon.

SONIC: Good to hear. How about the other one?

SALLY: Oh...Cousin Amy...

Sonic begins to look concerned.

SONIC: How bad?

SALLY: Her PTSD isn't getting any better, I'm afraid.

SONIC: That's bad.

SALLY: She really wants me to adopt her. Us and the Chaotix were the only ones with her during her...ordeal.

TAILS: Just like me huh? Going from Aunt Sally to being my Mom?

SALLY: There's a difference, Miles. You've always been my son. I was there when you were born and I raised you.

TAILS: (TO NICOLE) See! I always knew I was Mom's favorite!

Nicole sticks her tongue out at Miles.

SALLY: Children, I love both of you equally. Please don't fight over me.

TAILS: Sorry Mom.

NICOLE: Sorry Mommy.

SALLY: Anyway, what I was about to say was I just didn't want you to think of me as your mom until the Federation said I was.

TAILS: Yeah because my real mom died immediately and Dad...

SONIC: Sometimes bad things happen to good people, Tails.

TAILS: Yeah I just wish I knew why Robotnik scrapped him...

Sonic turns to Sally. Sally shakes her head.

SONIC: I understand. Anyway, Amy's got a family. Why would she want to be part of ours, ignoring the fact she already technically is?

SALLY: Because...she feels abandoned, alone, and lost when I'm not with her.

SONIC: Wow you really did put an imprint on her.

SALLY: I suppose I did. I'm basically now a security blanket she can hold on to and bare her soul.

NICOLE: So how long before Cousin Amy's sleeping in your bed like Miles was, AUNT Sally?

Sally stops and doesn't know how to respond to that as she knows Cousin Amy's sexual preferences and Nicole DOESN'T.

SALLY: That...is the worst case scenario. Besides, I've already told her I can't adopt her for purely legal reasons.

SONIC: And I don't think either her or I could stomach me being Cousin Amy's dad for that matter...

SALLY: Yes...I don't think she's realized that yet. Also I'll have you know my dear Nicole that your brother was only in our bed because your Aunt Lupe had...an accident.

NICOLE: An accident?

TAILS: She was sleeping on top of our old house Nikki.

NICOLE: Oh! Oh yeah...you told me she liked to sleep outside.

TAILS: And she fell through the roof...on top of me...

SALLY: Yes...uh...not one of her better moments.

NICOLE: Man I'm really glad I missed out on most of Knothole.

TAILS: Yeah, and that's ignoring the fact we were in constant darkness and ate nothing but nuts, ferns, and grasses there.

SONIC: Speaking of nuts, ferns, and grasses, when's dinner?

SALLY: Oh we're still waiting for someone...

SONIC: We are?

UNCLE CHUCK: (O.S.) I think she means me!

Everyone turns to see SIR CHARLES HILDYARD (Uncle Chuck) standing in the room.

SONIC: Hey Unc!

SALLY: Hello Sir Charles.

TAILS: Hey Uncle Chuck!

NICOLE: Hi Unkee!

SONIC: You're just in time for...what are we having?

SALLY: Cream of Chantrelle Soup.

SONIC: Cream of Chantrelle Sou--

Sonic gives "huh?" expression to Sally.

SALLY: ...you're having chili dogs.

Sally sips from a water glass.

SONIC: ...I am having chili dogs! If you care to join me...

UNCLE CHUCK: I would love to! You've praised the heck out of the ones your new chef makes.

SALLY: Yes, his former place of employment in The Hedgemony suffered major financial setbacks resulting from Julian's little...escapade.

UNCLE CHUCK: I know. I've seen the photos. Its horrifying what happened to Green Hill.

NICOLE: Have you considered going back Unkee?

UNCLE CHUCK: No Nikki, I haven't. And...to be quite honest...

SONIC: Mom...

UNCLE CHUCK: Exactly. My run in with Aleena at your wedding was not positive, Sally.

SALLY: Yes...I can...understand that.

SONIC: I didn't even talk to her, I'm surprised she came at all.

UNCLE CHUCK: So am I.

Sally's servant, Chauncey, enters with four bowls of soup and a plate of chili dogs for Sonic.

SALLY: Thank you Chauncey.

CHAUNCEY: Your Highness.

UNCLE CHUCK: Sally, would you please do the honors?

SALLY: I will Sir Charles. We hope that the Great Light blesses this meal and allows it to provide for us the strength to do what we need to do every passing day. And that it keeps us together and protects us. Praise be.

TAILS: Praise be.

NICOLE: Praise be.

SONIC: Praise be.

UNCLE CHUCK: Praise be.

SALLY: Good. Now dig in!

Sonic takes one of the Chili Dogs off his plate and hands it to Uncle Chuck.

SONIC: Unc?

UNCLE CHUCK: Don't mind if I do!

Uncle Chuck takes a bite and his eyes narrow.

UNCLE CHUCK: My word! That IS good.

SONIC: See I told ya.

UNCLE CHUCK: You did. But...

SONIC: But?

UNCLE CHUCK: Mine are better.

SONIC: Really?!?

UNCLE CHUCK: I may be biased but there's something far more earthy about them.

SONIC: Well there was that weird flavor profile about them...

UNCLE CHUCK: Sonic! That was an old Hildyard family recipe! One that we...stole from a highly respected restaurant in old Cincinnati...

SONIC: Cincinutty?

NICOLE: That's where Riverside is now Daddy.

SONIC: Ah.

TAILS: Who needs all those books in The Hedgemony when we got her? Am I right?

Tails' attention is directed to his mother. She's rubbing her forehead.

TAILS: Mom are you ok?

SALLY: Oh I'm fine Miles, I've just been having some headaches lately.

SONIC: Headaches? You didn't tell me anything about headaches.

SALLY: Yes, I know. They were pretty passing and minor. But this one...not so much.

NICOLE: Do you think you should see Dr. Quackenbush, Mommy?

SALLY: No I think I'll be fine, Nikki. Its already gone.

Sally takes a sip of her cream of mushroom soup.

SALLY: ...maybe its the soup.

CUT TO:

INT. GUN BASE CAMP, MAIN OPERATIONS

Osgood enters the GUN Commader's office.

OSGOOD: We found the source!

GUN COMMANDER: Good. Where is it coming from?

OSGOOD: From the States! Charleston, South Carolina sir.

GUN COMMANDER: Well that would be old GUN territory. I'll go get Watkins and Cartwright and we'll check it out.

OSGOOD: Right sir, I'll give you the coordinates.

CUT TO:

EXT. GUN BASE CAMP, LANDING SITE

THE GUN COMMANDER, CARTWRIGHT, AND WATKINS ENTER A TROOP TRANSPORT WITH FIVE OTHER GUN TROOPERS. THE PILOT CLOSES THE DOOR AND THE GUN TRANSPORT LIFTS OFF TO HEAD NORTHWEST.

CUT TO:

INT. GUN TRANSPORT

The GUN Commander, Cartwright, and Watkins sit across from each other in the sterile metal transport.

WATKINS: I don't feel good about this sir.

GUN COMMANDER: What do you mean.

WATKINS: Well...have you ever read a book called...On The Beach?

GUN COMMANDER: Can't say that I have. I'm not much of a reader.

WATKINS: Well...in it World War III has occurred and the whole world is radioactive save for Australia.

GUN COMMANDER: Go on.

WATKINS: The only surviving Americans are the crew of this one submarine. They pick up a signal from the US and they think it might be survivors but...

GUN COMMANDER: But?

WATKINS: The signal is just the sound of a Coca-Cola bottle being tapped on by an old drawstring blind. Everyone's dead and the crew has been exposed to radiation and die soon after.

CARTWRIGHT: You think we're following a Coke bottle?

Watkins gives a nervous "maybe?" expression.

GUN COMMANDER: Well at least we have protective gear. Those guys on the sub probably didn't know about fallout.

CARTWRIGHT: Nibelium isn't like the old Uranium. We don't know what it did.

WATKINS: Besides turning Fiver and Hazel into Bugs Bunny?

CARTWRIGHT: Perhaps.

GUN COMMANDER: I need to get out more. All these pop culture references just go over my head.

CUT TO:

THE GUN DROPSHIP FLIES AWAY.

CUT TO:

INT. ACORN PALACE, SONIC AND SALLY'S ROOM - NIGHT

Sonic and Sally are in bed, cuddling. The light of the moon illuminates the room from the balcony.

SALLY: You know...I thought that week we spent in Soleanna was the happiest I've ever been, but its been even more so since we got back.

SONIC: You think so?

SALLY: I know so.

SONIC: It reminds me of the time we spent waiting to get out of Knothole. When I left my house to live with you and Tails...

SALLY: We were still children then though...I wanted you for love but...

SONIC: But?

SALLY: I needed you for support as we faced the future. Now that we're here, my needs and wants are the same.

Sally smiles.

SONIC: They're mine too. Good night Sal...

SALLY: Good night my love.

They kiss, close their eyes and drift to sleep.

CUT TO:

EXT. SOUTHERN BARONIES, MARSHLAND - MORNING

THE GUN DROPSHIP LANDS ON A STEADY PIECE OF LAND. FROM OUT OF IT EMERGES A HOVERCRAFT CONTAINING THE COMMANDER, CARTWRIGHT AND WATKINS.

CUT TO:

EXT. HOVERCRAFT

Watkins pilots the hovercraft as Cartwright and the Commander sit in back.

CARTWRIGHT: According to the coordinates we received from Osgood it shouldn't be far now.

WATKINS: Lieutenant, are you sure about this?

CARTWRIGHT: No. But at least we have one thing going for us.

WATKINS: What?

CARTWRIGHT: Your Coke Bottle's not going to kill us. Radiation readings are nil.

WATKINS: Well that's a relief.

GUN COMMANDER: Wait, what's that up ahead?

They see it in the distance. Its a large platform. We've seen it before...last season.

WATKINS: Looks like a refinery...

GUN COMMANDER: Cartwright is that...?

Cartwright looks at a PDA she's carrying.

CARTWRIGHT: That's it.

The hovercraft speeds towards the platform.

CUT TO:

EXT. EGGMAN'S REFINERY, PLATFORM - MORNING

The hovercraft docks at the refinery and all three occupants get out, their rifles armed and ready. The three ascend the staircase nearby before reacing the top of the platform.

WATKINS: Helloooooo! Is anyone here?

GUN COMMANDER: Private, don't draw attention to yourself. The area is NOT secure.

Suddenly a familiar voice booms from a loudspeaker above them.

EGGMAN: (V.O.) Its secure enough!

GUN COMMANDER:

Who are you? Show yourself.

EGGMAN: (V.O.) Very well...come in!

SFX: Elevator Klaxons

The platform lowers and the three descend.

CUT TO:

INT. EGGMAN'S REFINERY

The elevator reaches the sub level and the GUN troopers leave it. They move about in troop formation, rifles aimed and ready to shoot. Suddenly the voice calls out again.

EGGMAN: (V.O.) You can lower those rifles. We're on the same side I assure you.

The GUN Commander looks around for the source of the voice.

GUN COMMANDER: Who are you?!?

EGGMAN: (V.O.) I've been following your transmissions closely Commander. It only felt necessary to call out to you in return.

GUN COMMANDER: Show yourself.

EGGMAN: (V.O.) Very well...

DR. EGGMAN (formerly JULIAN ROBOTNIK) emerges from behind a tanker.

GUN COMMANDER: You! You're one of us!

EGGMAN: Yes I am Commander. Welcome back to Earth.

CARTWRIGHT: Who are you? What's your name?

EGGMAN: Me? I am Dr. Julian Robot--

Julian stops for a minute, he realizes he's given the wrong name to these people.

EGGMAN: Subotnick! Dr. Julian Subotnick, at your service!

CUT TO:

EXT. EFRICA, THE VELDT -- EARLIER

A LOW TRACKING SHOT REVEALS THE BODY OF CREAM THE RABBIT PASSED OUT ON THE GROUND, PRESUMABLY FROM EXPOSURE.

SFX: FOOTSTEPS

A SHADOW APPEARS OVER CREAM'S BODY AND FROM IT COMES A SPEAR. IT POKES HER AND SHE REACTS. SHE'S STILL ALIVE.

WATKINS: We did this...we killed ourselves...and they took over.

SALLY: I don't believe it...it can't be!

CAT: Your Highness, who are they?!?

CAPTION: “THREE WORDS THAT MAY DESTROY IT FOREVER!”

SALLY: GUN! They're here!

BUNNIE: GUN?!?

SONIC: You want me? Come and get me!
