hp fics for when I need my fix
Honestly, I'm pretty obsessed with reading really good fics. That should be obvious, but sometimes, they're hard to find. I'm spoiled - there are so many amazing fics, books, series on here that keep me constantly craving for more.
I'm truly addicted to these fanfics tho, and these are some of the ones that got me hooked or helped stave off the craving. My favs. The upper crust. The ones that keep me up till ridiculous hours in the morning. The ones that make me FEEL things, whether it be hilarious, or brilliantly angsty and dark, or very serious but heartfelt, or opening up enthralling whole new world building, or just the sweetest fluff. Sometimes simple and light, sometimes extremely complex and heart wrenching.
There's so many flavours of good, and I'm determined to read them all, though I will always hope that I never actually do read them all, because what on earth will I do with my life then.
Check the tags! In the bookmarks, I have more, and I normally elaborate on the book and give extra tags. Sometimes many, many tags.
I prefer longer fics, but there are some shorter ones that are brilliant too. Fanfic is honestly better than the actual canon books will ever be, imo.

Summary
The three Unforgivable Curses were classified as such because they work differently than other dark curses. There's dark and then there's Dark. As soul magic, the kind that leaves an unavoidable taint on the soul of the victim and caster both, the Unforgivables fell into the latter category.
Perhaps if more people had remembered that the Killing Curse wasn’t the same as any other dark curse they wouldn’t have been surprised by Harry Potter when he returned to the Wizarding World.
As it was, nobody – not even the vaunted Albus Dumbledore, who really should have known better – was prepared for what the Killing Curse had activated in young Harry.

I enjoyed this! It was very linear and simple, but also felt rich and interesting. It had a big shock factor, but in a way that doesn't feel overdone. A story about grief and a broken families, of gaining freedom, it was really cool to read.
I think my biggest issue is probably (spoiler ahead) that the whole plot and book is building up to a big revenge at the end, and then the revenge is a little unsatisfactory. It's not terrible but... I think that's after the shock factor extremities went through in the rest of the fic, the end then feels exceedingly bland in comparison, the revenge barely there. The story also probably would've benefitted a lot from a bit more words, to flesh out some of the intesting things hinted at but not elaborated on, giving choices more weight, but I don't think it's a big deal, since the story is still fun to read.
Anyways, I enjoyed spending my afternoon reading this! :3

I loooooooved this! ❤️ but I really wish it was a full length series! The story stops after 2nd year, and is a good place to end, ending scene feels sooo satisfying and good, but obviously I want to see what happens in the years to come, how that is dealt with. A pity it ends there.
Nonetheless, the ending still felt good and I really loved this! An alternative magic exploration, something Lomonaaeren always shines so bright in, their strongest talent imo. Very cool. :3

yeah, this was cool. nothing spectacular but i did defs enjoy it.
it dragged a bit in places, and could've used more action happening overall tbh. there was some stuff about magical exploration that seemed fascinating but it wasn't really utilized that much / gone into depth, which is usually fine but feels a bit disappointing when it comes to lomonaaeren because magical exploration is their strongest skill (imo!) so probably could've been shorter overall, or could've added more action and death and interesting plot points.
however, i still had a good time, I looooooove a harry x theo pairing, and I liked the fresh air approach in making them ravenclaws, it felt cool. the way it affected the plot was really intriguing. the bond they have was so lovely to read, and the found family vibes was truly heartwarming. everything felt very realistic, I liked that too.

a bit more somber and darker in tone, less humour and light hearted moments, but lots of feels and fierce intense loyalty. the bond between harry and snape is crazy strong, ridiculously so, and this story is about that bond. a story about love, in a sense, and how deep one would go to protect your family.
I had a good time with this. started dragging a lot around the 1/2 to 3/4ish mark tbh, pacing off and some plot points gettinf dropped into murky waters. plus, the final plot points packed no punch - they're good plot points but the way they were presented felt anticlimactic, even tho it shouldn't have been.
nonetheless, still a great fic, and if you like severitus, then this is one of the best ones I've read in that regard. loved that. plus, I always adore a dark harry.
