Summary
“What is he doing?” Cat snickers.
Jeremy shrugs. “No idea. He gave me permission to stay. I left my phone on the counter. Could you text my mother and tell her I’m helping out with a cycle here? Just…don’t tell her whose.”
“Laila!” She yells down the hall. “I’m gonna lie to Jeremy’s mom and tell her y’all are fucking!”
“Cool!” Laila yells back.
Jean grumbles at that and licks around Jeremy’s belly button. Jeremy jolts, punching the floor. He’s distantly aware of Cat pulling her phone out to take a picture, but Jean is sucking marks into his stomach and it’s too distracting for him to call her on it.
A wet tongue slides under his waistband.
“Close the door right now I swear to God, Catalina—“ Jeremy snaps. Cat obliges, footsteps and cackles escaping down the hall. “Christ, Jean.”
———
AKA: Jean’s first rut after years of suppressing them. Bad news is that everyone thought he was a beta and no one is prepared. Good news is that his partner would rather die than not help him.

Summary
Neil is gone for two and a half days before they find him: barely conscious, bleeding, and too far from the sea. Rescued but not whole, his body bears the marks of cruelty, and his silence weighs heavier than the highest, roughest tide. Beneath the surface, something lingers: a fracture in trust, wounds carved not only into his flesh, but into the way he lives inside his own skin.

Summary
It was such a pleasurable feeling, being so close to another that you could see your own face reflected in their eyes, the sole center of their attention. Jeremy peered into his own red eyes, saw his own flushed face, his body moving closer and closer to Jean’s. Jean’s scent enveloped Jeremy from all sides, embracing him like a long lost lover.
Kissing Jean was as close to a religious experience as Jeremy would ever have.--
When Jean goes into a natural heat for the first time since leaving Marseille, he asks Jeremy to spend it with him. Jeremy, who has been falling in love with Jean since the moment he laid eyes on him, says yes.

Summary
When Jean woke and felt what was happening within his body, he knew he should not have been surprised. And, yet, his head filled with shock — disappointing and useless. The night before he left South Carolina for Los Angeles, Abby had told him to expect a heat within the next month or two.
But, she had underestimated the amount of hurt Jean’s body had to heal from, and May, June, and July slipped by without any sign of a heat. And, although Jean tried, his mind could not recall what the impending signs of heat looked like.
He remembered them now, flushed and overheating under the sheets on his mattress in Cat and Lailas’ house.
