Seems like Jason Todd is the (un)lucky winner of such an opportunity! When the teenager wakes to a second chance at life, he is forced to live in the body of a monster. Yay!
To survive, he must uncover the limits and powers his new form holds, all while trying to avoid unwanted attention. When he returns home, things only get more difficult. His family actively hunts him, people are terrified by his very presence, and rogues try to catch him for their own uses.People fear what they don't understand. Villains hate what they can't control. Vigilantes detain what they think is dangerous.
There is no place for inhuman monsters in Gotham, but surviving by yourself is lonely. Maybe taking Batman's new little bird under his wing will help somehow?

They're traveling with their boyfriend and girlfriend, respectively. Which is excellent! And they're hunting cryptids across the Midwest. That's gotta be less stressful than battling the Upside Down.
Except for the Men in Black, the cryptids which may or may not be out to get them, and whatever the hell is following them.

Number one rule for working the night shifts at the sketchy gas station in the middle of butt-fuck nowhere was to not look at them, and they would leave you alone. Shaking hands tugged the collar of his ratty trenchcoat higher, fingers already numb from the pouring rain soaking him to the bone.
The mud tacked onto his boots forced him to skid, a grunt leaving him as he was sent tumbling to the ground. “Shit!-” his palms ached from colliding onto the rough tarmac, tiny stones lodging themselves into his skin.
He felt heat rush to the wounded area, a low throb working its way through his hands as he felt a familiar ache in his ankle. It was the same pain that taunted him when he twisted his leg during gym.
Mud coated the palms of his hands as he scrambled to push himself back up, ignoring the sting in his leg as he limped forwards, trying to move as quickly as possible.
