He has a new life and Dick is maybe a little bitter and doesn't understand why his little brother won't just talk to him. He gets his wish. Tim shows up to the BAU to punch in the face and tear down little fantasy world he's been living in. -

What sort of maladie… How dare… This is simply inconceivable!
It should irk him, this scorn and contempt he is handled with, the mistreatment by the hands of such as Drake, and yet… it does other things to him. The older teen treating him like dirt under his feet is strangely — and horrifyingly — arousing.

He was getting better, is the thing. Bruce has been actually getting better recently. Less violent on patrol, less volatile during training. Drinking less. Eating more. He had even started smiling at Tim when he did something right. Or. Well. His face would soften from cold disapproval to the same pinched silence that Janet gave when his grades were as high as she expected. It wasn't approval but it wasn't disapproval either. Just. A neutral mask of "meets expectations".
He had been inviting Tim to stay for dinner, some nights, even. Tim has been much more of a Business Partner than a Punching Bag recently.
Maybe that's why he let himself get his hopes up.
