Summary
Bruce studied in a private academy, and that academy happened to have full-ride scholarships for students with high achievement - Clark was the student that earned that scholarship. Bruce, in his angsty, angry teenage glory, caught Clark's attention when he fought against a bully. This got him into a fight with Clark. The fight ended with Clark finding out how broken Bruce was, and his wishes for a safer world. So Clark became more protective and caring of Bruce, and they somehow developed a relatively close relationship as friends; or maybe something more than that.
This story is about the slow development of their relationship, Bruce's healing of trauma, Clark's discovering himself and his power, and their antics.

Lois looks over at Clark, whose expression softens the moment Jeremiah is whisked away by Cat to give them enough time to cool off. His glare and scowl is immediately replaced with a soft smile and a glint in his eyes when he looks at Lois. “What was that about, Smallville?” Lois asks him, turning in her stool to face him completely.
Clark shrugs, taking a glance at her lips before looking back up at her eyes. “Nothing… just… didn’t like him touching you.” He admits, the bar’s music still pounding, everything around them didn’t shift except the air between them. He’s quiet with his words, almost ashamed that he acted the way that he did, not ashamed for the reason though.
Lois clicks her tongue, but she grabs the front of his shirt, dragging him off of the stools, pulling him towards her with her eyes locked on one place in the bar; the bathrooms. “You. Me. Bathroom. Now.”
Or... celebrating Lois Lane's birthday in a downtown bar was going great, up until one of Lois' ex-boyfriends shows up and decides to flirt with Lois directly in front of her 6'4, himbo hunk of a boyfriend, and who knew jealousy looked so hot on him when he bends her over the bathroom sink?

The situation was almost surreal— a pile of boxes had toppled over from the adjacent building's delivery truck, and there was Clark in the middle of it, looking both sheepish and kind of… adorable?
"Uh, hey," he called up to you, clearly embarrassed. "I might've, uh, knocked something over?"

Clark shrugs. “I don’t know, I don’t know anything about him.” It had been hard not to follow Spiderman back to wherever he goes each night, desperate to learn more about him, trying not to let the worry overwhelm him. He digs a little harder at the coffee stain. "I think he's alone."
He looks back up to see Lois staring at him, her mouth screwed up and her eyebrows drawn close together, her fingernail tapping against the wood. “How are you gonna help him?”
Clark just sighs. "In whatever way I can."

"Hurt you," Jason echoes, and now his voice isn't raspy because he's pretending to be Batman. Bruce hurt Dick. The first son, the favourite, the one most like him.
Bruce hurt him?
"Do you still not understand what you did? What you keep doing? ‘It is what it looks like.’ Funny how I only realised it after my death, after you beat me up and sent me away from my family.”
Dick stands up, all stiff movements. The light from outside hits him directly, and Jason realises he’s in a nightmare.
Jason was—he was dreaming. This—this man, hunched and shaking and bleeding—cannot be Dick. His brother’s face could never be dripping with blood from his father’s fists.
“Look. You’ve made me a victim,” Dick tells him.
OR
Dick finally realises Batman is an abusive piece of shit, and so do his brothers. What follows is never that simple.

As suspicious and crazy as it makes Bruce feel, he cannot deny that Clark cares. He’s constantly checking in on Bruce. They talk on the phone practically every day, and Superman has become a frequent and regular visitor at Wayne Manor. Dick adores him. Alfred does too. He keeps making hints about ‘letting Mr. Kent into the club in an official capacity’.
Clark is wonderful. He is good—too good.
He won't treat Bruce the way Bruce wants to be treated.
