Shen Qingqiu can't exactly say he's enthused about transmigrating into an A/B/O novel, but for the most part he manages to ignore it (aside from dunking on Airplane-bro for his shitty worldbuilding).
That is, until he realises Liu Qingge has feelings for him - and that he has feelings in return. Still - the two of them can work out this Omega/Omega thing, right?

Bookmarker's Notes
I don't think I've ever really felt inclined to read omega/omega before- if I had to read ABO, it would have to be alpha/alpha, which would have a higher chance of exciting me, because those were the characters less often depicted to be hindered by the setting. Omega/omega always felt like the bottom of the barrel to me, characters that would be helpless to help each other in their true time of need- because that is what omega heats are always depicted like, it seems like: helplessness. I hate it. If I get around to reading ABO, I far prefer it to be non-traditional. (Which is not to say I haven't read traditional ABO, but I need to be in the headspace not to hate myself for it, or pick out good ones.) Truthfully, the only reason I read this was because I was vaguely familiar with the fandom and it was on the very limited list of material available to consume under the shixiong/shidi kink, which WenZhou (Word of Honor/Faraway Wanderers) has recently given me a craving for. And yet- this fic showed me how consensual an ABO fic could truly be. An omega heat where the omega isn't limited in how they interact with society and aren't driven out of their minds? Amazing. Plus, it makes sense that the original novel would've been ABO, with aborted plots to explore gender dynamics. I could honestly not want anything better from this universe. Even some alpha/alpha fics are riddled with needless questions on the meaning of masculinity in this hyper-sexualized universe- and I mean sexualized in the gender dynamic way. This was none of that. In fact, I was even annoyed that Yue Qingyuan dared suggest they might be in need of a third. They were doing just fine on their own! They're just a normal couple- if only slightly kinky because of the slight dom/sub! They don't need anyone else to make it work- they're coherent and competent, and hot because of it. Gosh, I don't know if I'll ever like another ABO as much as I liked this. The ending scared me, but that was explicitly not because of the ABO.
