When Steve's ex, Nancy Wheeler, comes out to him as a lesbian, admitting that she's falling in love with his best friend, Steve realizes that he might as well kill two birds with one stone and finally help Robin get the girlfriend she's been useless at getting for ages. Setting the two of them up on some 'impromptu' dates until they inevitably give in should be pretty simple, right?
The only problem? Across town, Eddie Munson is experiencing the exact same thing, sitting across his little twin bed from none other than Chrissy Cunningham.
And if there's one thing Eddie hates more than losing, it's Steve Harrington winning.

He also didn't expect to fall in love with Steve, the engaged bartender, but then again nothing in Eddie's life has ever been easy.
TLDR: A Burlesque inspired Au because that film is a national treasure and is a common rewatch for me. Also like Eddie just fits the character of Ali so well. meaning, I had to write him and everyone else in. Anyways, enjoy.

When Eddie Munson arrived at the Buckingham Beach Motel to spend the summer with his best friend Chrissy and her business partner Robin, the absolute last person he expected to see hanging around in the lobby was former King of Hawkins High and renowned jock asshole, Steve fucking Harrington.
To make matters worse, Eddie found that Steve's presence was just the tip of the iceberg—long story short? Mistakes were made and it turned out the motel was a little overbooked.
Absolutely not.
Eddie grabbed her by the hand, cutting her off and tugging her across the lobby, as far from Steve and Robin as they could get.
“Are you crazy?! You want me to be roommates with King Steve?!” He hissed, throwing his hands around wildly. “Have you completely forgotten what a giant asshole he is?!”
“We’re not in high school anymore, Eds. I’ve spent time with the guy. He’s always been nice to me, and if what Robin tells me is true? Then not only is Steve not like that anymore, maybe he never really was.”
Eddie's jaw tightened. She could not be serious. Jock’s don’t change their stripes, or whatever.

She sighed as she walked into her bathroom for a quick check up. She reapplied the pink lipstick she was wearing, the same that She wore at that party over the weekend. It was the loveliest color.
