"What!” Gareth exclaimed. ”Do you think that he was trying to make fun of you?”
“I’m not sure. He said that he meant fake dating. He thought it was the best way to prove he’s changed and to piss off dear old dad.”
“What did he say when you said no?...You said no right?”
”He said he would help me study!”
"Pretending to date the boy that you’ve had a crush on for years can't end well.”
Eddie shrugged. “Even if it’s just pretend, if this is the only way I get to have him it will be worth it.”

Steve's parents want him to become worthy of the Harrington name. Stop hanging around the kids, stop talking to delinquents and losers. Apply to college and finally start down the path his father had paved.
So of course, Steve starts dating Eddie Munson.
Fake date, of course. He just needs to show his parents they can't control him, and show Hawkins that he's not King Steve anymore.
Eight weeks to get to know Eddie and achieve his goals. He'll leave those two months with more freedom, less glares, and hopefully a new friend. Nothing could go wrong, right? -

Summary
Billy barely had time to grieve his mother before his dad pulled him out of school in the middle of the semester to transfer him to the Hawkins Academy of Arts - in Indiana. Although this is a chance for a new start, and for Billy to revive his childhood dreams he is not prepared for what the future may hold. Steve Harrington used to be Billy's best friend, but things have changed. For starters, Steve is an asshole and he's standing directly in Billy's way.

Chrissy’s eyes widen at the statement and she finally gets a good look at him. Stifling a squeak, she moves an inch closer behind Robin in hopes that her friend will hide her from view. Her mind goes blank because he just might be the prettiest boy she’s ever seen. Now that she’s closer, Chrissy notes that his hair is more unruly than curly, but he seems to make it work. Deep set eyes trimmed with long lashes that are always unfairly given to boys. They’re so thick they make it seem that he’s wearing eyeliner.
Utterly unfair.
His dark brown eyes turn to her as he lifts a brow and asks, “And for you?” His lips pout in the o and all Chrissy can think is that they look just as soft as his hair.
She can never step foot in this establishment ever again.

Noelle asks him on Monday if he's busy that coming Friday and Steve figures why not? He takes her to the movies on Friday, takes her to bed on Saturday, and on Sunday he lets her down gently. She takes it in stride, and the next Monday it's Jocelyn at his locker. Then Ginny. Then Cami. Soon a rumor starts that Steve Harrington will accept anyone who asks him out at the beginning of the week and end their relationship after seven days of dating.
Eddie doesn't believe the rumors. After all, to say Steve Harrington would ignore the glaring asterisk of heteronormativity is just insane. But when he catches the King being tardy on a Monday he puts his theory to the test.

He jolts upright with a gasp that feels more like a sob, adrenaline thrumming through his veins, heart beating erratically in his ears.
Something is tangled around his ankles, pinning him, trapping him and he kicks desperately, freeing his legs and throwing himself backwards. He hits a wall– he hits a wall, he hits a wall– and squeezes his eyes shut, waiting for teeth and ripping and pain, but–
“Ed!” Wayne calls from…somewhere, voice cutting cleanly through the panic fogging his brain. “Turn that noise down ‘fore you wake up the whole neighborhood!”
