The thing was, right, that "could be" in a hypothetical sense was different than "could be" in real life. Hypothetically, sure: Izzy had one set of bits, Ed and Stede had another. Sometimes, hypothetically, you put those bits together and, given time to cook, the end result was a tiny little squalling human.
