Summary
Wei Wuxian attempts to Set Right What Once Went Wrong by sending his consciousness back in time; in true Wei Wuxian fashion his inventions work, but with some very unintended consequences.
1. *yakety sax arrangement for guqin and xiao* - the casting of the spell itself, played for laughs. Wei Wuxian POV, some XuanLi, more WangXian. Complete.
2. second verse, same as the first - Less cracky and more serious, explores the fallout of the characters being displaced in time and a number of dead people being alive again. Varying POV, multiple ships. Complete.
3. coda: an independent passage, at the end of a composition, to bring it to a satisfactory close - checking back in with the original Wei Wuxian, wondering what exactly went wrong with his beautiful spell. Complete.- Words:

❤️refrain; a musical phrase repeating in a song or instrumental piece

Wangxianficrecs post here. (Archived, 3 works.)Ah, this was a great glimpse of an insane time travel concept, in which everyone (except wwx) wakes up in their old bodies, 20 years in the past. So people who were dead remember up until their deaths, and so on. It's pretty cracky in the beginning, but gets more serious. I ADORE the concept, I could easily read 60k more, but the two scenes Author gave us (the celebratory dinner after the Sunshot campaign and Lan Sizhui and Wen Ning waking up in the Qiongqi Path labor camp) are delightful and satisfactory.
Wwx POV in the first story, and he's utterly baffled (keep in mind, for him, he's being feted as savior of the Sunshot campaign at this point, and his golden core is still a secret), here's Lan Zhan saying they're married, and Jiang Yanli and Jin Zixuan hugging and saying they are married (and parents!) and half the cultivators in the room suddenly howling for the blood of the Yiling Patriarch. (Wwx is glad he's not him, poor schmuk.)
Part 2 starts with Lan Sizhui's POV, as he frees his family and out-argues a host of Lan guards using Lan Rules. As a toddler. Now that’s a hoot!
Part 2 continues by taking a deeper dive into FEELS, especially with the Jiang siblings, as they actually talk about their feelings and tell uncomfortable truths and just... lay it all out there so that nothing festers. It's healthy and painful and paves the way for such a lovely future.
Part 3 reconciles the wwx who was left behind for this whole tale with the new future, and is fully satisfying. And the Author's Notes at the end about everyone and where and how they are and why are thoroughly delicious and count as a micro-fic all on their own... don't forget to read them!
Part 3 chapter 2: Okay, I don't know who else needs this, but a fairy tale with Wen Ning as the prince charming is so perfect I can't believe I didn't realize it was lacking in my life.
*** Excerpt from Part 1***
He didn't let go of Wei Wuxian's hand after picking him up, either, which left Wei Wuxian only one hand to clutch at his wildly beating heart as he tried to parse this sudden radical change of attitude. Protect him? Husband? Remember? What was going on? Last time he checked, Lan Wangji hated him. How could he have gone from that to cutting off someone's arm to defend him in the course of an hour?
What could Wei Wuxian possibly have done to inspire such devotion? How could he possibly hope to deserve this?
"You're defending him?" Jin Zixun demanded incredulously. "He cursed me! He put the thousand-holes curse on me!"
"Wei Ying did not," Lan Wangji said adamantly.
Jiang Cheng grimaced. "He's right, actually," he said grudgingly. "We actually found the real caster, later. It was Su She."
Lan Wangji tensed noticeably. "Who the fuck is Su She?" Wei Wuxian demanded.
"Who cares about Su She?" Jin Zixun screeched, pointing wildly at Lan Wangji. "He cut off my arm!"
"You still have one," Lan Wangji said, and Wei Wuxian wasn't sure how he made it sound like a dismissal of complaint and a threat of further action in just four words. Damn, that was hot.
"Can you two stop being gross?!" Jiang Cheng interrupted, apparently in response to whatever Wei Wuxian's face was doing at the moment. "We have a CRISIS on our hands!"
