That is something Izuku... Randomly asked himself. His life wasn't the best, thanks to his Meta-Ability, and yet it... Felt wrong to even be angry at the people for fearing him. Metas barely even appeared in the last 20 years, and Izuku is living stockpiler of pure energy. (Though, people mostly don't know that part, they just know he has an powerful Meta-Ability)
So when he was struck by a pair of odd lightning bolts, and felt much stronger -and feverish hot- he supposed there was no way his Meta would be used at all if he kept thinking the status quo would accept him and his Meta. So he did the only thing he could really do.
Be the Hero no one asked for. Because he wanted to help, and no one could stop him if he was smart about. And he could just go back to his studies once he was done with the 'Heroic Feelings'.
That didn't quite work as intended because he was caught live in one of his last patrols. And accidentally became an icon.
... Well ain't that a motivator to keep on trying?
