Draft of an article on Interview with the Vampire read through the lens of ethical vampirism. Written from the perspective of a living vampire.
The essay is a critical reading of series as ‘energetic architecture’, a system for circulating affects. The analysis is shaped by the ethics and praxis developed by vampire authors and energy workers such as Raven Kaldera and Michelle Belanger.
‘Vampires’, as energy workers of bodies and thresholds, are real and have always existed in social ecosystems as shamans and healers. We can blame colonialism for the predatory/parasitic vampires of fiction today.
Apologies, I write far too densely on the first draft so even this description is probably unreadable unless you have a PhD in performance studies. If this sketch takes on a publishable shape, will come back and revise to make more accessible. I have a strange feeling that people exploring ethical vampirism might be attracted to this show, but locating the archive of available information can be tricky, so this is also an attempt at rigorous cultural transmission.

“Hm,” says Sam. “I think we play it safe, and go with red maple.”
Yeah, Eric is certain: Jacob and Sam aren’t fucking. But they’d like to be.
