Leonardo was struggling to tune out the surrounding noise, the lingering echoes of the catastrophe that had just taken place. Everywhere came the groans and cries of unlucky bystanders, the wailing of battered car and store alarms, and the terrified barking of neighborhood dogs. The turtle had no idea what had caused the explosion or how extensive the damage truly was, but as distracting as those questions could be, his attention wasn’t on them. Nor was it on the many corpses he could see around him—bodies he made a conscious effort not to think about.
He wanted only one thing: to make sure his brother was okay, get back to the lair before humans inevitably swarmed the disaster site, and hide under his blanket to forget. -

AN UPDATED VERSION OF MY FIRST TMNT FANFIC
In an alternate universe where Splinter lives, Karai takes charge of the Foot Clan, transforming it into an honorable organization dedicated to good. The Shredder is dead, and life has returned to normal-except for one family member.
Mikey has been feeling useless and lonely at home, as his brothers constantly ignore him or become angry with him for his antics. One day, he finds comfort in a strange woman named Misaki Towa, who offers him sanctuary and support to lift his spirits, becoming a motherly figure to the turtle.
Unbeknownst to Mikey and his family, Misaki is the Shredder's widow.
After learning of her husband's death, she plans to avenge the Shredder by killing the turtles and Hamato Yoshi, with the help of the remaining Foot still loyal to him.
As the story unfolds, Mikey begins to lose his family's faith and love due to Misaki's poisonous manipulation and lies disguised as harsh truths.
Can Mikey's brothers and Splinter help him through this ordeal, or will Misaki Towa succeed in her revenge by poisoning the one person who is the heart of the family?
