Summary
Infinity is the question, the examination, the want, the deterrent, and the answer. To examine infinity is to examine how small you are when faced with that vast span of perceived nothingness.
Infinity is not evil—delving into infinity, however, brings nothing but pain.
A party celebrating indulgences places Veritas Ratio and Aventurine of Strategems paired together, undercover, with the host of their celebration holding a record of the 'investigations and answers of the question of infinity'. By the end of the night, the record and the host must be turned in to the IPC. What begins as a mere document recovery slowly becomes larger in scale.
When the question of infinity comes to the forefront, the answers at hand become lost to that dark void of nothingness.

Veritas Ratio is a scholar. Not only that, but he is a doctor eight times over in different topics, and his eight Ph.Ds adorn his office wall. His vocabulary is wide and elegant, and his demeanour, while sometimes blunt and harsh, is professional.
He is, by no means, a degenerate of an Alpha.
Even his ruts are short-lived and tame, by his standards– and his scent is not incredibly overpowering. Although he does wear scent blockers, as he is a professional man, and not a degenerate Alpha controlled by his base desires who flaunts his pheromones in a desperate call for a mate. Trust him, he is not that type of person.
So why– why– is he so terribly, stupidly fixated on Aventurine’s waist?

Summary
Normally Aventurine was so good about this sort of thing. A vampire in his position had to be if he wanted to get away with just living, let alone thriving the way he did. If he was hungry, he’d go pick on a stranger. Strangers were so much easier to get his fill from, given the lack of any meaningful connection, and since so much of his work was off-world and for the IPC, it wasn’t like anyone could hold him for long if things didn’t go perfectly.
Yet here he is now, falling to the classic blunder of a handsome, familiar face inviting him inside “just until his cab comes.” I’m getting indulgent, he thinks, as he crosses the threshold with a charmed smile and glittering eyes. When he sees Veritas slipping off his heavy overcoat again, he decides he doesn’t care. If Aventurine hadn’t been invited in, he’d call it unfair for an academic of Ratio’s renown to also be such a striking specimen of the human muscular system.

Probability significantly makes logic falter, suggesting that it is its own, unique logic. It follows its own hidden rules, creating an enigmatic but worthwhile experience to think with.
