“I can’t sleep, I can barely eat, I go through my day in a haze, because I can’t stop thinking about someone else’s memories,” B’Elanna says, too tired for anything but complete honesty. She swallows, holding Dax’s gaze. “If this is anything similar to being a joined Trill, I don’t know how you deal with it.”
Unable to sleep after the events of “Remember”, B'Elanna unexpectedly finds Dax in the Mess Hall late at night. Set in an AU where Jadzia Dax was on the USS Voyager when it was flung into the Delta Quadrant.

Meanwhile, Kathryn Janeway just wants to focus on her research on the Bajoran wormhole, but she keeps being dragged into astropolitics, whether by inadvertently supporting her friend, Jadzia, in upending Trill social mores, or getting caught up in Starfleet Intelligence’s plans.

If you haven't read the rest of the series, you can jump in here! This story is plot-heavy, with Janeway/Riker as the main pairing, and a side helping of Dax/Kahn for good measure. As usual this story deviates from the timeline; many events of DS9 still occur, but they’ll diverge from canon considerably (more so than previous entries in the series).

On Trill, Jadzia is in hiding from the Symbiosis Commission after the discovery of Joran and other, worse secrets. The documents she needs to expose the Symbiosis Commission are on Deep Space Nine, and she won't be making the journey alone. If Kira needs a ride back to Bajor, it only makes sense to go together. And maybe fall in love.

So last week, I read The Wrong Side Of Heaven (And The Righteous Side Of Hell) by commoncomitatus, and at the end of it, I just wanted these precious sweethearts to curl up and find some comfort.
Oh who am I kidding, I wanted them to make sweet and gentle love. So I opened a new doc, setting aside the story I'm currently working on, because 'how long can it take to write a little bit of smut, eh?'
Which promptly turned into 10K+ worth of comfort with the teensiest bit of sweet and gentle love-making at the end, because I should know by now that I don't write short stories.
Anyway, here goes. I'm not sure if it makes a lot of sense if you haven't read commoncomitatus' piece beforehand, and I don't want to belittle that one by giving it a two-sentence summary over here. Go read it. It's amazing.
This fic is heavily based on the (imagined) fallout of the events of the S3 episode Equilibrium and mentions the episode Second Skin.
