This is technically a canon-compliant fanfiction piece from the first Tarzan novel, but you don't need any familiarity with the Tarzan books to enjoy it. If you'd like to get the background straight from the horse's mouth, the massacre is in Chapter 22 of "Tarzan of the Apes."
This is not a raceplay story, but as a Burroughs pastiche it is racially insensitive, so beware if that's a turn-off for you.
