You never expected to end up here.
Then again, no one usually expects themselves to become a convicted criminal sent on an expedition to escape death row. But here you are.
You had grabbed at the opportunity as soon as it was presented to you. In fear of it vanishing or somehow filling up, and you got it. You got a one in a million chance to live, to maybe go back to how things used to be before all of this.
