She just got used to not being alone with the work, and now she has to learn to balance that with suddenly having an even more private aspect to her life. How do you learn to have feelings?!
And as if this wasn't enough, an old friend turns up and Aloy suddenly finds out she knows even less about love than she thought. All of her friends gladly help out with advice — which turns out to be completely contradictory, with the various tribes having very different notions of romance and partnership. Who would have thought social norms and the complexity of actual life aren't always compatible?Researching ancient tech for dealing with Nemesis unearths various helpful bits and pieces. Means of transportation weren't exactly the primary focus — and yet, somehow the re-discovery of railways turns out to have the potential to address a whole bunch of problems.

After the events of Horizon: Forbidden West, more and more ancient ruins could be activated once again all over the globe. One of these ancient ruins was located in the German region of the Ahrtal. After being subjected to more than twenty years of a frequent occurance of death and destruction, only known as "Deadwinds", Elara and Nila want to sneak into the ancient ruin that seemed to have been the reason for the Deadwinds.
If you want to know more about the European history of the Old Ones until the devastation of the Faro Plague, as well as a short introduction to the local tribes near the Ahrtal in the region around Luxembourg, Belgium and Germany, please have a look into the appendices.

After running out of leads on GAIA backups after the Zenith launch facility, Aloy and Varl join Talanah and her thrush Milu on a hunt in Jewel near the Eclipse's former base only to discover a Zero Dawn facility with not only a new lead but also two of the Alphas sealed into cryostasis; Elisabet Sobeck and Ayomide Okilo.
The ensuring adventure leads the Gaia Gang into the Forbidden West to track down a Gaia backup and the AI’s subordinate functions uncovering mysteries of the past and present and contending with threats such as the Tenakth civil war and one from beyond the stars.
This story is my take of the story of Horizon: Forbidden West, one of my favourite games of all time.

Just as a heads up, it's pretty gay!
The idea for this story actually originated when my extremely extraverted (and extremely gay) friend came round one day when I was playing Horizon Forbidden West. She hadn’t played any of the Horizon games before, but as soon as she saw Aloy on the pause screen, she joked saying, “damn…. I would let her sit on my face!” I found this rather amusing!
If you haven’t played the games yet and you don’t want any spoilers, this is not the fanfic for you.
Although you don’t necessarily have to have completed 'Horizon Forbidden West' and 'Horizon Burning Shores' before reading this, I recommend that you do. Playing the games gives you a lot of context around who Aloy, Beta, Seyka, Alva and Erend are, and their world in general. 'Burning Shores' especially sets the scene and backstory to Aloy and Seyka’s relationship.
If you are only here for the smut, I got you – so far, there is a little in chapter 3 and lots in Chapter 5.
