Late autumn light filters through the windows, bathing the floors of Gyuvin’s apartment in a soft golden glow. He pads towards the sewing machine and sits cross-legged before it. He reaches a finger towards the switch, and everything turns dark. He takes his phone out of his back pocket and speed dials two.

The pixels on the screen before Ricky’s eyes have changed once more. He reaches out blindly, his right hand feeling its way across the unblemished glass of his desk, traversing until it bumps up against his phone. He taps on his most recent outgoing call and an automated voice croons up at him. Not even a minute later, the automated voice gets replaced by a human, one speaking with a deep timbre. Ricky chuckles quietly, hangs up, and shakes his head, a small but genuine smile taking shape. -

Buck smirked, looking down at the man. “Are you sure you’re not cursed?”
Eddie scoffed. “There’s no such thing.”
“I beg to differ.” Buck’s smirk widened, a flicker of genuine concern behind his eyes. Two accidents in two weeks—it was strange and he couldn’t shake the feeling that something more was at play.
“I think the big man upstairs just has a sick sense of humour.” Buck could relate to that.
or: Buck had miracles happen around him all the time but he never truly felt like one himself, despite what he was told. Then he met Eddie Diaz, who was possibly the most unlucky man alive. Eddie could really use a miracle and one way or another, Buck would be that for him.
