Summary
Of all the ways people have found to make money off soulmates (and they've found a lot) the most widely mocked are soulmate psychics: people who claim they can tell you things about your soulmate before you meet them—for a fee, of course. Bitty's always thought they're total bunk.
Then Bitty gets to Samwell and meets Jack Zimmermann. For a hot second he thinks Jack's his soulmate, but Jack gives no sign that Bitty's his - and treats Bitty like crap, to boot. Maybe there's something to soulmate psychics after all. Maybe Bitty's one of them.

Summary

For a split second Jack thinks he spoke his thoughts out loud, but then he realises — that wasn’t his voice.
He turns, looking down at his left winger, and all the breath disappears from his lungs at the wide-eyed way Bitty is staring at Kent. It’s not the starstruck, ‘oh my god it’s Kent Parson’ face that Jack is all too familiar with. It’s gobsmacked and a little bit horrified and knowing. And that nickname, no one but Jack and his parents ever used that nickname, but somehow it sounds effortless in that southern drawl.

When Kent Parson comes crashing back into their lives, Bitty expects an implosion, but instead it begins something he never thought possible. Jack wasn’t sure how he was supposed to respond to that, so he continued to stare pointedly at the wall. Bob rubbed his shoulder. “You know you can talk to me, right?” He asked. “You can always come to me to talk. About anything.” Jack didn’t know how to explain that no, actually, he couldn’t, because then Bob would know, and that would go against the whole point. So he continued to stay silent. He heard Bob sigh, and felt him remove his hand. After a moment, Bob said, “Um, Kent Parson was here.”
After Jack's overdose, he and his father finally have the talk that they've been needing to have.

Kent knew it was a bad idea when he got the message in his inbox a week ago- in his email, out of all places, not even a text. He knew it was a bad idea when he went to bed last night- even though he stayed awake, staring at the ceiling for hours afterward. He knew it was a bad idea when he left his hotel so early that he had to sit in the parking lot in his rental car for thirty minutes.
He knew it was a bad idea when he finally stumbled into the shitty bar and saw Jack Zimmermann already waiting at a table in the back.
He only hated himself a little bit for how his heart stuttered in his chest.
Or: Jack and Kent meet up to try to reconnect. In doing so, they can’t help but think back to how they got here in the first place.

“I don't give a shit about the draft right now Jack,” Kent says, his voice low and serious. “You were about to kill yourself.”
