Summary
Keradin Deeproot had always thought of himself as a man of faith, a devoted believer, a pious soldier for the good of all. His sins were forgiven when he asked for it, since he had not done them for himself, but for the Bulb above.
But to be forgiven one had to pray for God's grace. To be forgiven one had to regret.
And Keradin did not regret his pride, his wrath, the blood on his hands. -

Summary
"The Bulb cares for no one."
Sir Theobald Gumbar could have run from the Cathedral, could have watched Chancellor Lapin Cadbury be killed by Sir Keradin Deeproot in front of the Pontifex, could have let his ex-husband die with the last word. That would have been the easiest thing to do.
Sir Theobald Gumbar had never taken the easy way out.

Or, a retelling of A Crown of Candy, if Lapin Cadbury hadn't died. Starting during the end of Chaos in the Cathedral.

Summary
Chancellor Lapin Cadbury, Chaplain of Castle Candy and the Primogen of the Bulbian Church. A warlock of the Sugar Plum Fairy, a secret he was unable to keep to himself. Lapin was not the sacrificial type, he was the mastermind, yet he found himself making sure that Theobald will survive to continue protecting the royal family, all while sacrificing his life in the process. Those who escaped the Cathedral of Saint Arugula all knew that he died in there, called an apostate and a worshipper of a different faith.
But before all that, who was he without the decorative names and titles that he was given? This is a peek into his story that he kept close to his chest. Looking through the past before everything began, he was the young, clever rabbit who made a deal with the Sugar Plum Fairy... this was where it all spiralled out of control.

If the summary is not obvious enough, this fanfic is a spoiler if you haven't watched episode 6 of A Crown of Candy. You were warned :]

Summary
Amethar is enraged, and it’s nearly boiling over. He can feel the eyes on him Bulbian Faith, the nobles of the Concord, and the Soldiers of the Concord, all about to take his family down. For the beautiful magic that was his home.
His hand trembles, clutching tight the sacred tome that once belonged to his sister, a tome that was now the instrument of his destruction. As the Pontifex prattled onward, ready to name his family excommunicated and fugitives, Amethar spoke words in rage, and as he spoke and the book flashed, even he was surprised when they rang true:
“I am STILL the Emperor!”

Or, they remember the Joust.

Summary
“Lapin Cadbury was a traitor to our faith, a test sent from the Bulb to prove our faith in Him,” the Pontifex will say in her official address, her green face stoic and still, pointed with practiced remorse, “Though it wounded us to our roots, we did what needed to be done in our path to cure the scourge of Calorum.”
What she will not tell you, the Pontifex, is that Lapin Cadbury came back from the dead for a long moment, that day. That he lay in the cathedral for hours, the cold air rattling his hollow frame, waiting for the second coming of the end.

Summary
Lapin decided to do something else instead, something self-indulgent, something that he'd always wanted to do but had been prevented from by his tactful fidelity. He decided to do something that he knew would have made Sir Liam gasp and the Princesses cackle with glee, should they have been here. He could imagine, with perfect clarity, how King Amethar would choke on a laugh of amused disbelief, how Sir Theobald's gummy mouth would drop open in shock.
With all the fleeting energy left in his broken body-
He spat in her face.
Or...
Lapin spits in the face of the Pontifex. Somehow, he lives.

Summary
Sir Theobald Gumbar is selected as the champion for Candia, to defend his kingdom's honor in a tournament, and after the passing of the Archmage Lazuli, the kingdom’s most proficient healer is none other than one Chancellor Lapin Cadbury, who hates travel and gore and gratuitous violence. And Theobald. He definitely hates Theobald.
Or, “I didn’t know where else to go”.
Or, “Your blood will be on my hands.”
Or, misjudgment on both sides.

Commander Constano Grissini of the Imperial Army is a man of honor in a time of treachery. Caught between his loyalty to the Concordant Emperor, his faith in the Bulb, his duty to the Candians, and his burgeoning feelings for Princess Jet, he navigates battlefields and political intrigue as Calorum descends once again into war.
Or, the events of A Crown of Candy from Constano’s point of view.

Summary
His apotheosis might have been cruel Bulbosi contrition, disfigurement to match his sins-- no true body for the flesh-worshipper, eight-armed monstrosity; no real death for the ephemerist. Shatter the animist's connection to his spirits, ply him with power despite this, leave him no idol to venerate. He could not covet death, not for sanity's sake, and had forced upon himself an uneasy acceptance with his lot-- but it was apotheosis nonetheless, whether chosen or no. The Sugar Plum Fairy had been fickle, anyway, and the god-shaped hole inside him had grown with only diminishing returns.
400 years after the events of ACOC, Lapin still wanders Calorum. Candia has long fallen and the Rocks are lost to time, but he isn't the only immortal haunting the wastes. It might have been a unique opportunity for comradeship, had it happened to be literally anyone else.
Not that Keradin is particularly thrilled about it either, but they'll make do.

Summary
"Show me to the Cathedral," Lapin says, softly this time. He's the picture of grace, framed in gold against the setting Bulb. He tugs Keradin ever so closer to his side, wordlessly drops his line of inquiry as quickly as they round the corner. Keradin lets an age-old breath loose from his chest as the usual nosy, insistent authority departs their correspondence. And he leads mercy by the arm through Comida.

Summary
Lapin blinks slowly at Brassica as she steps up to the bars of his cell, the guards splitting around her like so much water over a stone. He inclines his head, trying for regal and probably failing.
“Heretic.” Her voice grates against his eardrums. “You have awakened.”
“Zealot. You haven’t killed me.” Lapin replies, dry.

Summary
Out of respect for Citrina’s preferences in life, her doppelgänger is memorialized with a blue hood covering her head. Only the slightest hints of honey-gold hair peek out from beneath it, and Belizabeth’s eyes fixate on them hungrily.
“I know what your hair looked like, beneath the veil,” she whispers so faintly she practically mouths the words, “The people who come here do not, but I do–every last twist and trace of it.”
In which there are things no amount of penance can account for.

Summary
In this single epiphany she now knew something that could completely change the world as she had grown up knowing it. Other gods were just as relevant if not moreso. Her opinions on the hungry one had completely changed, her worldview shattering. Why should she hate something that she was told to hate if everything else she had been told had been a lie?
The bulb was no god. It was a source of power.
