Summary
The assassin that got on the train wasn't anything special....or at least, they weren't any more special than the rest of the treasure hunters on board. They started acting pretty weird, though, and as time went on, it only got weirder.
Krieg didn't know what to make of them. Neither of him did. Frankly, he had no clue what the assassin's problem was, and he wasn't about to ask. Both because....well....he couldn't, and because he wasn't sure he wanted to know.
Maybe one day the answer would come to him, maybe it wouldn't. Oh well.
This is a companion piece to Lucky 7. Essentially, it's that whole chain of events starting from the train, but from Krieg's point of view.

Author's Note updated 2/13/24: Two important updates. Firstly, I might post a very late Broken Hearts Day chapter. Late because of Update Number Two! I'm revamping everything that's been posted. My goal is to rewrite a chapter every week or so for the next few months. Some chapters will be heavily modified because I feel there are scenes my skill faltered and I could have characterized things better. Some chapters may see very few changes at all outside of minor additions and word-choice adjustments. So, if you see my Broken Hearts update in the future, take that as a sign to go check out the rest of the story. Treat yourself to a reread and enjoy the changes. Actually, treat yourself to something nice in general. You deserve it. Like a jar of Ranch dip and Ruffles cheddar and sour cream. I don't know why it must be those two things specifically, but I'm addicted to this combination.

What if the Vault hunters weren't the "good-ish" guys? What if the Vault was not a place, but a thing, lingering in wait for its true plan? What if what Jack saw on Elpis was not an answer but horrors beyond what he ever imagined? What if there were two girls, new and shy to this feeling of love, but unable to be. One girl so deeply entangled with the Vault the lines begin to blur, losing hope and control of herself in desperation. A "Guardian Angel" left with the weight of her sins and blood forced upon her hands.
An excerpt to explain the Vault better:
"Calling it ‘The Vault’ never feels right, nor puts to perspective just what it means. It's not one, but all Vaults across the universe. It is an entity within and outside our own galaxy.
