The hickey on Luffy’s neck was subtle. Koby caught it nonetheless. He was transfixed by the way the summer shadow of the tree’s crown would dance across Luffy’s face, and then there it was. A red hickey.
“what’re you looking at you doofus?”
Koby snapped out of it once Luffy spoke up, realizing he had been staring quite intently at Luffy’s neck for what must’ve been a while. He swallowed as a result of getting caught.
“I… um. The hickey…” he confessed. Probably an unwise move, but Koby had never been wise around Luffy.

Little did Luffy know, this would spiral off into a rather tiring set of events where Luffy is unintentionally tasked with fixing Shanks's and Buggy's relationship in order to stop the annoying back and forth between them where Luffy is yanked back and forth by the two pirate captains as they argue with each other over a past Luffy had no clue about. The 17-year-old swallowed loudly. He did not know whether to laugh or cry. He finally got to talk to his old man and yet he was amid a fight with a fish man who could turn him into human gumbo. Usopp’s legs were jelly at this point because they shook so bad and he had been running so far and so much.
“Wh- who are you?” he asked aloud. “You aren’t going to help—”
“I’m not going to help you lose,” the older man said. “I’m going to help you win.”
“Wh- why?”
“I am your father.”
Otherwise, Usopp and Yasopp could always see through each other’s eyes. And maybe, just maybe, Red Hair’s sniper isn’t such a deadbeat dad. Twilight meets the center, after all.
