It all started with a spider on the ceiling.
That goddamn spider.
Mu Qing was busy scrolling through social media on his bed, the lamp on his nightstand dully lighting up the surrounding room. Unbeknownst to him, there was an icky arachnid straight above him, freely crawling as it pleased.
Until it fell. Directly on his chest.
“What the fuck?!” He jolted in shock, following another scream that would definitely wake up the entire apartment complex. That didn’t matter though. His life was more important than others getting good sleep.
or: Mu Qing has a spider in his apartment, and refuses to kill it himself and ends up asking Feng Xin. This leads to a further development in their relationship.

Summary
Feng Xin realizes it had been a long time since he and Mu Qing had a fight, so he had been oftentimes finding himself at the front doors of the Palace of Xuan Zhen. Sometimes he would find himself following the same path when he had other duties to attend. It got so bad, the only way he could get rid of this problem was to face Mu Qing head on. Although, it’s a hard matter to accomplish when the one person he so eagerly wants to challenge keeps avoiding no matter what.

Xie lian didn’t notice. Feng Xin would have expected something, maybe a look that encompassed the acknowledgment of his power depletion. But he was too busy mourning. He may have believed wholeheartedly that his ghost would come back, but it didn’t diminish the pain at his sudden disappearance.
So Feng Xin didn’t tell him. What he didn’t know wouldn’t hurt him, but what might was that he could have lost two of his best friends in addition to his beloved. It wasn’t that Feng Xin didn’t know the risks of completing such a dangerous procedure, but that when he saw Mu Qing lying on the ground, he moved before he could think, filled with an unfound rage at the Emperor for daring to lay a finger on him.
He didn’t remember how he did it, but suddenly, the shackle was broken, his core was in two, and one half was in none other than Mu Qing.Jun Wu places a cursed shackle meant to drain powers on Mu Qing. Feng Xin gives him half of his golden core, which leads to… a lot.
