Summary
Lately, Nie Huaisang’s thoughts all concerned Lan Wangji’s disastrous love life and how this negatively impacted all the poor souls that had to put up with his lack-of-cuddling induced stress. Stress that resulted in extra strictness, that was.
And, especially, his thoughts also revolved around how to solve that situation.
Nie Huaisang watched Wei Wuxian out of the corner of his eye.
I mean, if there’s someone who’s usually up to taking one for the team, it’s Wei-xiong. But would he agree to make out with Lan-er-gongzi to appease the guy a bit? Or would he consider letting himself be kissed and caressed by another boy a bit too much to ask of him?
(Or: Nie Huaisang notices Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian might have feelings for each other and decides to do something about it.)

Summary
Wei Wuxian mused sullenly while sipping his wine. He didn’t even notice Jiang Cheng spinning the bottle again until it was stopping, pointed at Wei Wuxian himself and indicating Nie Huaisang should be the one asking the question.
Ah, shit. Here we go again, he winced internally as his friend asked whether he’d like truth or dare. The dares had been working just fine for me. If I stick to them and choose truth only sporadically to throw them off, it’ll be alright.
“Dare! Let’s go!”
Nie Huaisang didn’t miss a beat.
“I dare you to kiss Lan-er-gongzi”
Wei Wuxian gaped. He was only faintly aware of Jiang Cheng spitting out a mouthful of his drink somewhere to his left.
Nie Huaisang grinned.
“On the mouth ”, he clarified.

He helps her grasp the courage to move on, as well as figuring out how to begin developing her cultivation effectively; and the two of them influence each other in ways that make both of their lives better.
Over time, they eventually fall in love.
When the Wen Sect launches their devastating attacks, they each come face to face with war, death, and destruction. As time goes on, they continue to grow closer; particularly with all the time spent in the war camps over the course of the Sunshot Campaign. It's hard to handle everything alone, but it's also just that much easier to deal with it all together.
