Young Link is a boy living in the Kokiri Forest who does not have a fairy companion of his own. Yet, when he is called to venture outside his home and the only world he's ever known, he realizes that not only is the land in danger, he is the one that must save it. Along the way, he comes across a young girl who claims to be a friend of the Princess he has been assigned to meet by the Great Deku Tree. But despite her appearance, she's not what she seems. And, when the truth is finally revealed, he will do anything to find her again, even after seven long years...

"The stars are lucky," Link sighs, splayed out on the grass of the Great Plateau, for once unbothered as he leaves stew to simmer in the pot across from him.
"Yes, they are," Zelda agrees, though she's sure they're thinking two entirely different things. "Stars, at least, are hardly concerned with tariffs."
"Yeah," Link hums, as though he'd been lamenting tariffs of any sort. "They get to watch everything unfold, and don't worry even a bit about their part in it. They've done their job being born of their predecessors' corpses, and now all they have to do is hang around as decoration."
Zelda doesn't know if they're still talking about stars.

Link and Zelda have Feelings about their childhoods (lives) being stripped of them. The brave Hero gave his life, his memories, his very being to defeat the Calamity, and for all that monsters still roam, his job... is done. Zelda's has only just begun. She knows she must not drag Link into royal armor once again, but she can grant him one, small gift. It is the least she can try to repay him.

The Goddess Hylia appointed but two children to prevent the end of the world. The powers they were promised don't come easily, and after years of failure, Princess Zelda can't help but wonder if Hylia chose wrong.
