Sasha feels the body under her shift. Green changes to orange light that illuminates a tiny pocket in their room. Sasha looks up into the two, orange eyes that have turned towards her.
“Can’t sleep?” Night whispers, voices layering when they speak. It used to scare her, the glowing, orange eyes and the multiple voices. Sasha’s used to it all these years later.
“Just thinking.” He replies. “Woke up from a dream.”
“Care to share? If you remember the details, that is.”
“Hearing Marcy’s heartbeat for the first time after we beat Andrias.” Night sighs in response. “It’s funny, we were so scared about it back then, but it’s the norm now.”

Sasha remembers what it was like hearing Marcy's new heartbeat for the first time.

Anne sure didn't, when she saw her parents and her home on earth for the last time. She never thought she'd have to face that thought; if she were to die before her parents did, she thought it would be sudden, unexpected, something she couldn't control - like a car accident, or a heart attack, or a disease that couldn't be cured.
