“So, you're supposed to be different? How come?”
Agent Three didn’t think about the question for a second before he let out a single laugh. “I thought we were trying to figure out your past, Eight.”
“Not much to talk about, I can’t remember most of it.” Eight grimaced. “Where I’m from, the people I know- I can’t recall much of anything. I can’t even remember my own name.”
This time, Agent Three froze. His left eye glanced down at the ground, and his cheeks flushed red. Eight tilted her head to the side, confused at this sudden display.
“Oh.” He said, with the same tone one would say if they had left a stove on at home.
“Oh?”
Agent Three looked at her, his eyebrows furrowed. “I know your name. And you know mine. We told each other about it 2 years ago in the Octo Valley, after my fight with the Octobot King.”
Agent Eight’s first time in Inkopolis turns intense when she realizes that Agent Three has more keys to her past than she thought. She grapples with whether or not she wants to remember the past she left behind, and if her and Agent Three should have connected at all.

Summary
Now that she's above ground, Agent 8 has carved out a life for herself. She has friends who look out for her, and a friend who she looks out for in turn. But when a strange group of Octarian soldiers steals a bunch of Zapfish for unknown purposes, she is called upon by Cap'n Cuttlefish to assist Agent 3 in routing the enemy and recovering Zapfish. Agent 8 is excited to work with Agent 3, even if the more experienced agent always makes her nervous for some reason... but Agent 3 isn't used to teamwork, and when things go wrong, Eight will have to step up to the plate.

Summary
Marina seems the most bothered by your memory loss. She stares at you when she thinks you aren’t looking, but her eyes are far away. When she explains the simulation, Acht seems to understand, but you don’t. You were a fighter, they tell you, not an engineer. You’re still a fighter. You don’t need memories to know how to use a splattershot or an octobrush.
At this point, there are three Eights: the octoling soldier, the Deepsea Metro escapee, and this new Eight. All three have put their heads down and pushed until they couldn’t anymore. The Eight you are currently is blanketed on all sides by people the previous Eight knew, but at least they make you feel safe when they smile. Maybe, hopefully, you’ll be able to become the person they remember again—or at least a close approximation. Being that Eight seems a lot nicer than the Eight you are now—which is a Nothing Eight.
