How does a simple Rose Quartz soldier liberate her people from a millennia-long caste system and unite them with a species native to the planet they were bound to destroy?
It starts with Pink Diamond, the smallest and weakest of the Great Diamond Authority, and the Gem colony she’s granted.
It continues with the Gems created on this planet, with their realization of their birth meaning the death of it, and their fight against Homeworld to stop this and to be free.
And then the end begins when Rose Quartz falls in love with it;
The planet Earth.

The ache in her chest disperses almost immediately, and she feels her figure change.
Slowly, Rose sits up, despite the nausea in her throat.
In the reflection of the warp pad, she finds Pink Diamond. Her gem is upside down, it’s natural. Rose had never felt so different, but it eased the physical pain. Shape-shifting was supposed to be easy for gems, and she already knew she could hold her form longer than a normal gem. But, spending years as Rose, fighting a war as Rose, drained her more than she realized.
The moonlight casts shadows over the beach cave as Rose’s hand drifts from curling in her hair, to tracing her gem, to feeling the ruffles of her shorts. She swallowed a lump in her throat. Rose was no longer Pink Diamond. She was no ruler, no royalty. She was a Quartz now, no matter what form she took. She was Rose.
“...Pink?” a breathless little voice came, startling Rose all the way to her core.
