He hated the way he couldn’t reassure him, how he had to watch the blissful ignorance fade from his gleaming, tearful eyes at Patroclus’ lack of response.
“No.” Achilles backed away from him, shaking his head like he could physically remove the truth from his shoulders. “No, no, no.”
“Achilles.” Patroclus was, for the third time in his life, at a loss. He didn’t know how to take his hurt away, wasn’t sure it was even possible. He, again to reiterate, hadn’t expected this reaction. After Achilles left him that day, Patroclus had confidently believed he didn’t give a shit about him.
Yet, here he was, two years later, pleading to a god he didn’t even fully believe in to tell him that this wasn’t real.

Patroclus and Achilles are soulmates.
Achilles doesn't find out until it's too late.

After grieving the death of one of friends in a climbing accident, Briseis, Patroclus had shut himself in darkness. As the anniversary of Briseis draws near, his childhood best friend Achilles proposes an adventure to cure this pit hole of grief- 2000ft TV tower in the middle of dusty nowhere waiting for their grabby feet to climb it. But things take a turn for the worst when both boys are stranded at the top of the TV tower after a freak accident, which is breaking as we speak.
Crack, Crack, Crack.
Inspired by 2022 Physiological Thriller "The Fall".

"Are you okay, my love?" Achilles gently asked from the other end of the line, his heart pounding so heavily it felt like it might fall out of his chest, every movement from the other side making him catch his breath.
