Title from this song, which, apart from the obvious, I think rather fits Kaz's vibe.
I've put this in the series because to me it's all in the same 'verse but it's really an unrelated prequel and can absolutely be read on its own.

Auran sulked in the grimy alleyways of the Barrel. It was easy for him to hide, being much smaller than anyone else there. He'd tried everything, tried everywhere. But no shop in the Lid would hire him. He was too young, had no proof of identity, and nothing to say when asked where his parents were. He'd heard by word of mouth that the Barrel worked differently, and he could see that within minutes of arriving.
The streets were packed with tourists, and eye-catching displays from the various pubs, gambling dens and pleasure houses. The third of which he'd averted his gaze from, almost like looking at it would kill him. He hadn't yet gotten used to the Kerch's ways of… immodesty. He'd been raised very traditionally, but perhaps this was something his mother was more familiar with… He wiped his eyes of tears.

His face and neck were still marred with the slightly reddish pits that the pox left behind, even months later, and he was gaunt with sickness and malnutrition, bones jutting hard and nasty. They’d have pinned him down as a weakling, before the plague. But that was before. Now, in the miserable, scraping afterwards, not only was he alive, but half the gambling halls and gangs on the Lid were desperate to have him— or so Seeger said, anyway. Haskell didn’t know why this kid wanted to be in the Dregs, when the Razorgulls were practically throwing cash at him, but he wasn’t going to count his chickens. Maybe he preferred crows to gulls.
