“The ruin machines aren’t very smart,” she yelled as she tried to catch up. “And they try to kill people. I don’t think there’s a correlation between cleverness and the desire to kill. At least, not yet. There are hardly any cases of real strong artificial intelligences. Maybe Mehrak and Karkata come close, but neither of them are very hostile to people.” She had to take a deep breath, the little jog combined with the long speech made her a bit winded, but she wasn’t done just yet. “In fact it’s the opposite,” she continued. “Karkata tried to fix its creator after a-“
Faruzan finds she enjoys her mental sparring battles (read: trash talking sessions) with a certain Hat Brat a little too much.
A series of oneshots with continuity.
Latest: Faruzan tries to figure out Karkata's inner workings. Studying a machine should be easier than studying humans!

“You deserve good things happening to you, Belial.” His tone was soft yet held a firm undercurrent, enough that Belial couldn’t bring himself to argue. “You do,” Kazuha repeated, leaning into Belial’s space and pressing a gentle kiss to the unblemished, fair skin of his shoulder.
Did he? Belial asked himself, the question lingering in his mind like an uninvited guest. And the voice that resided deep within his chest—quiet but insistent, speaking louder than Kazuha ever could—answered for him. No. He didn’t. Not after everything he had done.OR: Belial remains in Sumeru while Kazuha drifts in and out. Distance makes him wonder—does he truly deserve Kazuha’s gifts, his attention? When they're together, all that matters is giving back, giving back, giving back. And then, the balance breaks. Then, everything falls apart.

Summary
Let it be known for the record that Al-Haitham does not like surprise parties. Or any kind of parties at all, for that matter. But does that stop his overly-enthusiastic group of friends (Because he has friends now. Multiple. More than he ever expected he would.) from throwing him one anyway? Absolutely not. You get acquainted with some people to overthrow a corrupt government just once and the next thing you know, you walk in on them decking your house with streamers, balloons and an obnoxiously large banner. Typical.

Summary
'When Alhaitham creaked open Kaveh’s bedroom door, his heart sank. Kaveh clearly had a fever, one that had gotten worse since the early morning. His skin appeared flushed, and his hair was sticking to his forehead. Despite that, Kaveh had the blankets pulled up to his chin; he was probably cold, but it wasn't helping the situation at all.
“Kaveh? How are you feeling?” Alhaitham called out softly, taking tentative steps toward the bed.
Kaveh groaned softly and shook his head. “I’m so cold, but… I also feel warm. I also feel a bit nauseous, too. Ugh, didn’t I take medicine for the fever earlier? How do I still feel so terrible?”'
or;
Kaveh is sick, and he has to let to let Alhaitham take care of him. -

Summary
A quick short story of Alhaitham and Kaveh in the morning, a dive into how Alhaitham perceives happiness, and what *his* happiness is.
*
'Nine years', Alhaitham thinks, 'we’ve lived together for nine years, Kaveh.'
If Kaveh, sitting across from him and sparingly glancing at the book he’s reading, could hear his thoughts then perhaps he would have nodded. Maybe say something romantic, as he always does, baring his heart for Alhaitham without the need to make it bleed.
'One year ago I got to say I love you for the first time. No more hiding between layers and layers of interpretations. I get to love you to the fullest and I wouldn’t have chosen otherwise.'

“You need to move out.” Now that he’s finally said it, he can’t seem to stop, caught between wanting to soften the blow and make it clear that he means business. “Not immediately, of course. I’ll give you three weeks to make alternative arrangements. You don’t have to pay me the rent for the last two months, either.” The words hang in the silence that follows, thick and oppressive as humid air. He feels sick. When he finally raises his eyes to meet Kaveh’s, he feels worse.
“Why?” The question is brittle as glass. Kaveh’s face is pale, his skin suddenly sallow as the morning light fades behind a cloud. Alhaitham can barely look at him.
Sometimes, being selfish is the hardest thing of all.

Are you gloating? Are you trying to get me to leave? Kaveh wanted to ask. Do you even care?
But that was the whole point, wasn’t it? That Al-Haitham did care. That was why he found out what he did about Sachin and Kaveh’s father, and it was Kaveh who had to come to terms with the fact that he’d been wrong.
Do you regret staying with me?
Kaveh swallowed. “Even…even that. I do not regret it.”

At first, Alhaitham thinks nothing of using it for personal matters, until it turns out his roommate Kaveh seems to have no idea that he takes care of a cat who's actually his favorite bickering partner. In fact, Kaveh's like a totally different person around Hai-Kitty.
Ah, well. Sometimes the easiest way to get closer to your roommate is to turn into a cat and run away from communication problems.

Summary
"It's absurd. Why would you want to take part in a competition that tore your family apart, Kaveh? Say no and move on."
Kaveh groaned, "Ugh, you're impossible! I'm doing it for closure for my father. Not that you'd understand. You don't have an understanding bone in your body. You'll probably just go into your hole and read a book while the rest of us are busting our asses to win that money."
A hole reading a book? That hadn't been his intention. While he had every intention of not going to the competition, he wasn't going to just ignore the world while it was happening. After all, that was nearly impossible. He shook his head, "If you're insistent, then I'll just have to join to protect you, won't I?"
"Ugh," Kaveh groaned again, "I don't need protection! Besides, if you join, then I'll just be competing against you!"
"I didn't say I was going to be competing," and with that, he walked off into the study and shut the door behind him.
