When Fujieda woke up, it was already too late. There was a dull panic that rose in his chest every time this happened, when he'd wake up and the opposite side of their bed would be empty, a still lukewarm ghost of his presence in the crumpled sheets. Ideally, Fujieda would wake up too when he screamed or gasped awake, hyperventilating, and so he could soothe him and pacify him into staying in bed and trying to go back to sleep.

This is the first chapter of a mainly Frisk x Muffet ship, this is under the assumption frisk is 18 when he falls into the underground and even then this is 3 years after a true pacifist ending of undertale, a bit of a spoiler warning but meh, not really covering material from the ending. Btw fullblown romance will probably start chapter 3, and actually explicit seems will start chapter 4-5 ish probably. (Also, Frisk is capable of his save and load powers, and he still sees the stars pop up every once in a while, but he doesnt really use em for the sake of other monsters, also this frisk has done no prior runs {that he has memories of so far, but a certain few do remember =)}, but has saved and loaded files before after dying to Undyne twice, leading to a minor but everpresent fear of her, this fear probably wont be a relevant lore element though)

Sunny isn’t content with the ending he has. Omori might be gone, the truth is out there, but he hasn’t entirely forgiven himself. In an act of defiance to his own mental health and everything he worked for, he plans to stay behind in Faraway to work on easing his friends pain, and giving a proper apology and goodbye to all the friends he made in the last few days. They deserve it after all.

“Well, the term only just started,” Kel finally says, sounding a bit cheeky. “Wouldn’t blame you for missing your little bro!”
It gets another throat-laugh out of Hero, and Mari smiles despite herself. She wishes she was tangible enough to find Kel and ruffle his hair. That was endearing, even if it was a cop-out.
“You know I do, Kel, that’s not even a question,” Hero mumbles, and for the first time since answering the phone he begins to look a little tired again. His eyelids lower, his shoulders drooping. Mari holds her breath—so to speak—and Kel seems to too, the silence on his end of the line crackling through the receiver.
Then Hero smiles again. Like brother, like brother.

After Sunny musters the courage to tell the truth, Mari's ghost is allowed to roam free. She follows Hero back to his college dorm and watches as his mental health worsens over the course of three months.
(Or, the five times Mari watched Hero pick up the phone for Kel, plus the one time she did it for him.)

Sunny finally gets everything off of his chest in that hospital room, while how his friends react isn't perfect, at least it's real, that's all that matters.
But what next? He can't just up and leave Faraway after finally telling the full truth. He can't leave them all just to deal with the trauma of that accident all over again, that'd be doing exactly what he did last time. They need him, he's relived that trauma more than all of them combined. But it's a bit too late not to move out now, he's going to have to work something out.
In which Sunny wants to stick around and help his friends work past the trauma of knowing the truth, he's not ready to give up on his past life after he's just gotten it back.
