People tend to forget what scared them. People forgot tragedies, people forgot what hurt. A band-aid over a gunshot. A homemade soup for a decapitation. People forgot what hurt, because they wanted to forget the hurt. The ache- The overwhelming Agony. People forgot wounds in hope someone else would come along to heal it without them having to do any work for it. Hoping a hero would make the pain go away.
It almost never worked, of course. Cuts bled and bled until it was too much to ignore. To late. People didn't question when Symbols of Terror disappeared. Why would they? They were gone. The hurt was gone. They didn't want to think about it, and who would force them too? A wound big enough is easy to ignore, if you wish for a blissful death.
Too many people forgot. Got comfortable within their bubbles of ignorance. Too comfortable of no longer being prey they could no longer feel the fear of being hunted, not until a true Predator was standing in front of them. Until they are forced to remember what it is like to be terrified, and too horrified to move away, even as death meets them with open arms.

The Avian dropped his fork into the bowl and just stared at the Vex. Scar didn’t break his face of glee as he continued to munch away at his tasty food.
