Luther's dealt with death before. The deaths of people trying to kill him. People he's been forced to kill in the line of duty or self-defense. The death of colleagues and teammates. But Ethan wasn't just a teammate. He wasn't just a fellow agent. Someone he'd run a few missions with here and there. Luther doesn't know how to deal with a death like that, so when he catches Ethan's face on a random piece of CCTV footage, Luther's first thought is he might not be getting enough sleep. His second thought is that someone is using a mask of Ethan's face. He never goes to that third thought because no way in hell could it possibly be him.

“After his last mission with you, Sentinel Prime related something of interest to me,” Ultra Magnus had said, giving Optimus an appraising glance. “He informed me that Megatron seems to be under the impression that he can recruit you.”
Optimus’s optics cycled wide, and without almost any actual thought, he blurted out, “I would never betray the autobots!”
Ultra Magnus’s face did not change, but his optics glinted. “I am aware, Optimus Prime. That is exactly why I am asking you to do just that.”
A pause.
