Summary
He presses a hand to AJ’s chest, feeling the rough fabric clinging to cold skin. Is some part of him still in there?
Samuel cannot help but wonder, dragging his palm down to the pocket where a handkerchief sticks out. A deep sea blue, a small “AJG” into the corner in white thread. Clearly something AJ had cared to preserve, despite everything.

Summary
“Where is Samuel? I haven’t seen him around the deck for a while.”
“Resting,” Margaret answers, sighing. “Thank God. I think he could do with a break. People have been…rather unreceptive to him when he talks about that strange man he met, and I think it rattled him badly, even before that–” she hesitates. She’s only just calmed John down, perhaps she should not mention this now.
“-that fog, yes,” He finishes. His voice only slightly wavers. “He’s been working non-stop once again, hasn’t he? Samuel always does throw himself into ways to help where he can.”
She can’t see the Brick Satellite that well in the daylight, but her gaze rises to where it would rest in the sky. How many bricks had Samuel laid for it, working well into the night? “Sometimes, I believe he may be the strongest of all of us,” she says. “No matter what, he stays by the sides of those he cares for, working himself to the bone to see it through. But even he needs to rest eventually.”

A missing scene - what was it like, when AJ went to go find Margaret? Perhaps she was talking with a dear friend.

Summary
Dear Samuel,
I never thought I’d be able to pick up a notebook again—not after you. Nothing feels the same without you. Do you know that? Did you realize, when you made that choice, that you didn’t just end your own life but took part of mine with you?

Summary
Samuel put down the journal and turned to Addison with a huge grin on his face. He had just seen the doodle she included on the bottom of the page. Three squiggly bears, one large one and two small ones, stared up at him with their dot shaped eyes. They reminded him of the little lunar buffalo that sat somewhere in the pages of his own notebook. He realized that he a lot in common with Addison. She was from another world, but unlike the rest of Lincoln Island's inhabitants, she seemed almost human, even if she wasn't. Reading her journal and hearing her commentary on it was fun.
Or: Samuel and Addison read each other’s journals.

Summary
John doesn't know what to say. The silence feels sacred, something far too important to break with useless platitudes or idle conversation. It's why he is so surprised when she finally speaks.
“Do you think Benjamin is dead too?” Rose asks, apropos of nothing, and John nearly chokes on air.
“What?”

Summary
"I think my magic is gone," she told Dakkar. Margaret was ashamed of herself. She had already messed things up. She was no where close to the powerful Traveler she must've been once. Margaret felt a strong urge to cry.
"Try again," Dakkar instructed. Margaret once again failed to produce any radiance. Dakkar's expression didn't change. All he said was, "Ah, it seems like you need to recharge."
"Recharge? Is that like resting?" Margaret wondered.
"It has the same effect," her brother replied.
Or: Dakkar teaches Margaret about recharging.

“Elijah, look.”
There’s a clunk behind him, the sound of Elijah setting something down. He hears the other man moving to come stand beside him. He should turn and face him, but he just can’t tear his eyes away from the horizon. Soon enough, though, Elijah’s where he can see him. The other man adjusts his glasses and squints his eyes, as if that will make what’s before them make any more sense.
It won’t. Amos is sure of that. But whatever is out there is not something that either of them can ignore.
It’s clear, far too clear—impossible to miss.

Kal can hear cannon-fire in the distance, echoing and loud, only making his smile grow wider. The sparks are tiny, and sputter out in the very next second.

Summary
"Don't cry," a voice called out from behind her. "Here, take my handkerchief." Someone outstretched a hand and offered a silk handkerchief to her. Rose wasn't sure if she could trust this stranger, but his voice was gentle and she really wanted to dry her eyes. She was rather embarrassed to be crying in front of a total stranger. He didn't know that her brother had recently died. He probably assumed that she was being ridiculous.
She turned around to face him. It seemed fair that she thanked this man for his kindness before running away from the paper stand. When she finally caught sight of him, her jaw dropped in shock. She blinked again and again and again to make sure her eyes were still working properly. Rose wasn't convinced they were. She must've been hallucinating (hell, she could've been hallucinating the whole time). The man standing in front of her appeared to be a carbon copy of her brother.Or: Rose reunites with her brother Samuel after days apart.

Summary
She woke up with a start in a room she didn't recognize. The sky was still dark, but somehow she knew it was morning. She was lying down in an unfamiliar bed. It was large. It was cold. It didn't give her a single clue about where she was. She got out of bed and investigated her surroundings. Maps of the earth and sky hung lavishly from golden frames. She had bookshelves with so many books that they reached the ceiling. There was a golden machine sitting on a desk. She took a closer look at it, and realized that it resembled planets spinning. It was a beautiful room. But where was she? Why was she here?
Or: Margaret wakes up in New York without a single clue about who she is.

Summary
There are other words one might use to describe Benjamin and Thomas. Words that would make Benjamin wince—too soft, too earnest, too romantic to reflect reality.
Words like lovers or partners—but partners said that tone, that particular inflection suggesting something indecent. Something unbecoming of a president and his vice president.
