Hannibal, privately, likens it to a form of communion between them; the divine right of the hunt passed back and forth with an ease that only true predators hold. Making up, he thinks, for lost time. Maybe, if it hadn’t been Will asking the question, he would have refused to answer in the middle of this sort of domestic divinity. But it was Will asking, and they agreed, no lies.
Will leans back in his chair, the remains of blood and sauce on the plate in front of him, and very calmly says, “I want to talk about Mischa.”

Yashiro leaned down and placed a hand on his hair. He stroked it. In different circumstances it would have felt calming. “Would it really be so terrible to stay with me? I would take better care of you than your father.”
Ichigo was shaking. His vision was still blurry. (Yashiro was still stroking his hair.) “You killed Kayo!”

Lily kept staring at him. She still wasn’t saying anything. The girl continued to have a hand on one of straps of her backpack strap, as though she was afraid the god might try and take it from her. (Dionysus wouldn’t bother physically taking it from her. He would make it disappear if he actually wanted it gone.) It was about a minute or two before Lily did speak up. “I don’t want to be here.”
Dionysus shoulders shook. Laughter filled the woods. The god was wearing a Hawaiian shirt that had no wrinkles or stains; while the god rarely wore fashionably clothing, he always kept his clothes from looking sloppy. (Even when there had been a good fight at dinner, Dionysus clothes had meticulously stayed clean.) The god was particular about that. “I recognize you don’t want to be here but what makes you think I like being here babysitting a bunch of snot nosed brats?”
Percy grit his teeth.
“You’re a god,” Lily croaked out.
“And yet here I am.” It was easy to hear the bitterness in Dionysus voice.
Lily tilted her head. “You’re a god. Why are you here?”
Dionysus raised an eyebrow. “No one told you? Not even your fellow cabin eleven-“

“You knew Aizen.” Rukia said and, of course, she didn’t beat around the bush. It doesn’t surprise him. He actually had been waiting days for this to be brought up. (He had half expected the captains to interrogate him.) Surprisingly, Renji had brought it up before Rukia.
“I’ve met him before,” Ichigo admitted because there was no point in trying to lie. It’s only then that Ichigo realized Rukia wasn’t like her friend. She didn’t stumble with accepting the fact Aizen was a traitor. Renji had almost called Aizen his former position before he had stopped him. Rukia hadn’t.
Ichigo frowned. He wondered if Renji had worked more with the former captain than Rukia or if Renji-
“Not here,” Rukia said and Ichigo honestly couldn’t tell if it was a guess or not. “You met him in mortal world, didn’t you?”
It had been years. Ichigo could still remember what it was like to almost drowning in that car.
“He saved my life when I was a kid.” The words were croaked out. His throat wasn’t dry though. Ichigo’s eyes flickered down to where his cup of tea was. To keep himself busy, he took a sip of the tea that had been made for him.

Percy didn’t snort. He had more self control than that.
“You’ve been trying to take souls from-“
Percy licked his lips. “If they’re not dead, I’m not stealing them.”
Zeus roared with laughter. His shoulders shook from it. “One day that impertinence is going be your undoing.”
There was no heat to his words. Whatever anger Zeus felt, it wasn’t directed at Percy. The grief the god was going through wasn’t from Percy’s actions; he had done everything he could have to save Thalia.
