“So. You are their newest Corporal,” Ao’nung said. He glanced down at my vest then, which had badges that indicated my name and rank. I didn’t think he could read them – how could he? Who would have taught him? I wasn’t sure, but given he was speaking English, someone had to be teaching him something.
“Ao’nung,” I said, through my teeth. “You animal. Do you have any idea how savage what you just did was?”
He smacked the side of my face, silencing me. He leaned in closer then, inches from my face, eyes smoldering.
“What I did was savage?” he seethed.

The Corporal who will one day be known as Neteyam has just been taken captive by Ao'nung, the lead warrior of the Metkayina, and the one the Na'vi refer to as Caller of the Tulkun. His mission is simple: Build rapport with his captor, earn his trust, and try to escape. “Christ kid, can’t you see that they’ve brainwashed you?!” Jake hadn't meant to sound forceful, but he couldn’t help it.
This is all wrong, he wants to yell.
“What? Because I finally found probably the only people that actually love me, people that See me, care for my well-being and who I am; I must be brainwashed. Is that it?” Spider shot back.
The Sully patriarch and former Olo’eyktan could only look at him in shock. He was no longer the child he knew back then. The skin that was once tan with blue stripes is now dulled to an ashy gray tone with pitch black markings. Those familiar brown eyes which used to shine at Jake in adoration now stare with a cold, unfeeling gaze. Jake only wants to help Spider, the kid’s gotta know that. He has to know that he’s just trying to fix him.
“But of course, you never cared before so why would you care now, am I right?”
OR
Where a lone human boy is raised by the wrong people; the Ash Na’vi. However, Spider ended up learning what love and family meant for the first time in his life. In the end, this turns into quite a unique take on Avatar: The Way of Water. The Sullys had a chance but failed, and now they may come to regret it.

Who wouldn't love her?
Kiri nods. "Do you know what it means?" Tsireya asks, hands moving to gently push the girls bangs out of the way. Kiri blushes at the act.
"It has the same meaning as, I see you." Simple and basic answer. Perfect for the moment as Kiri was trying not to make it awkward.
"They say it to their partners, they love that person for all that they are." Her voice filters through the air. Tsireya is staring, big eyes reflecting the stars.
"Well, I love you Kiri." She has a big smile on her face, innocence running through those eyes of hers and Kiri's heart nearly stops.

He ducked behind a tree trunk once he’d put some distance between himself and the group, pressing his back against the bark as he took deep steady breaths. He waited for the shouting to start, for his name to echo through the trees. But when that didn’t happen, he reached up for the first tree branch above his head.
He used to think that he was born to climb. Back when he was a kid and didn’t know much beyond the fence of Hell’s Gate, he spent every day climbing the trees at the edge of the boundary. He climbed until it became second nature, and he’d reach for footholds on instinct. Now, he shimmied up the young tree with ease, the wet moss a bit tricky to navigate but he managed it.
He crossed between treetops once he was high enough, watching as the recoms finally pulled their friend free. A murmur shot up between them, and their heads turned quickly.
They were looking for him.

Summary
Sullys stick together. That is something you have heard since the beginning. But when you are forced to uproot and leave your home, it is something you must learn to fully take to heart.
You are not technically a Sully, but you fight like one. And that in turn is enough to be shielded like one as well.
There is no choice but to openly accept that this family, these Na'vi, are your fortress. It is perhaps harder, though, to accept that Neteyam has seemingly appointed himself as your personal guard.
