RAHHHH i love it when the characters im fixated on go through things. spy in this case. also sosososo well written and i like how the actual shit he goes through is handled without necessarily being all that explicit about it (at least in the first fic lmao), the second longfic is also looking SOOO interesting and im sososo hyped to see how it develops (im also like. such a dadspy fan and the fact that the second fic has somewhat of a focus on their relationship makes me go insane)

Summary
After getting kicked out of Tuefort, the TF2 mercs are tasked by an anonymous employer with guarding incoming intelligence in a big creepy house. This assignment, little do they know, will be the toughest one yet, as past trauma and baggage begin to unravel.
This story was made as epilogue lore to a roleplay that my friend had. It’s set in 2034 (all the game dates have been adjusted so that the characters are the right age.)

Summary
Scout hadn't exactly been surprised per say when he was assigned the job of locating and "rescuing" Spy, as much as it felt inappropriate, given his and spy's generally less than spectacular relationship, Scout was, after Spy, (who wasn't able to rescue himself, obviously) the best man for the job. Although he was a bit surprised they were rescuing Spy at all, given Mann Co.'s generally laissez faire approach to replacing mercenaries. Not that he didn't want the guy to come back or anything! The guy was an asshole, but Scout didn't want him like, dead. Plus, getting used to a new spy would be a pain in the ass.
Shortly after receiving a distress signal from an unfamiliar location, Mann Co. sends a team of trained mercenaries to collect their missing member. Scout finds himself having to deal with a bit more than he had mentally prepared for. Spy reflects on his past, memories that should be long forgotten at the forefront of his mind.

please do know that this summary might just spoil you a bit of the story, because not like i'll call your attention just by the title, right?Well, in this universe, pyro isn't a merc, so blu and red don't have one of these on the battlefield like you'd see on average tf2 gameplay.
After a match ended, scout and the other mercs returned to the RED base, but scout saw something on the window. A black shadow.
He couldn't make out what it really was, but that's all he saw. Only to when he opened the window, there wasn't a single person there.Every day, Scout has the eerie feeling that he's beeing watched, every. single. day. even on the battlefield, there's always, the black shadow, staring at him.

Once upon a time, the Respawn machine split into two halves the souls of nine mercenaries that are programmed by a computer to hate one another, what you see running, fighting, dying and respawning in the battlefield are mere husks of cordless puppets painted in two different colours to fight one another in a never ending game of madness for the eyes of the administrator. There is no way out of this, not even death. Any glitch can be fixed by pressing a couple of keys and friendship between RED and BLU is NOT ALLOWED under any circumstances.
If two halves were to cheat the rules and meet, the punishment would be catastrophic. But if they worked together, let's say for funsies simply to "experiment" a little bit with the bounds of their reality. What wrong can it do? What crazy ideas could they accomplish?
