“Can I kiss you?” Toya suddenly asks, and Akito swears his heart tries to jump out of his chest. Though his pulse had slowed since coming back to the shore, it very easily, and very rapidly skyrockets again.
Akito’s hand freezes on Toya’s cheek. His eyes are soft and bright, and Akito hopes they don’t notice the heat he starts to feel on his face. He blames it on the sun, overhead.
“Yeah,” he says, trying to keep his voice steady. He already feels a little flustered; he doesn’t need to sound shaky, too. “‘Course, Toya.” He almost whispers his partner’s name.
