“Happy birthday, love! I brought…” Hanzo’s voice trailed off as he opened his eyes and took in Cassidy’s appearance, setting down whatever expensive alcohol he had bought down on the side table. Cassidy’s eyes widened ever so slightly, not thinking Hanzo would be back from his mission a day early. He’d run straight to him, kiss him silly, and drag him in to bed with him if he didn’t feel like absolute shit. He was drunk off cheap, shitty alcohol, and had only talked to about one person today (unwillingly.), and he couldn’t get his own thoughts out of his head.

Genji threw his head back and laughed, to which Cole used to his advantage by pressing kiss after kiss to his neck, making sure he got both his skin and anything synthetic or metal.
Genji giggled, “Even after all these years you are still flirting with me like we’re children.”
“Are you complainin’?” Cole teased.
“Just admiring.” Genji hummed, turning his head to capture Cole’s lips in a kiss.

Genji remained silent.
“Sometimes I see people I’ve killed from my Deadlock days. I ain’t get scared often but shit…” Cole exhaled deeply, as if sharing this story took a great toll on him yet also relieved him of some suffering. “Seein’ the people I’ve killed is pretty fuckin’ scary.”
Genji didn’t say a word, causing Cole to wonder if he was even with him at this point. Genji seemed to focus on his hands. Sometimes, his eyes would flicker back and forth between the two hands but still he continued to say nothing.
“Who do you see when you look in the mirror, darlin’?” Cole inquired, almost desperate for a response at this point.
“I have not looked in a mirror… not since I became this.”

“I won’t need you.” Genji glared.
“Then you ain’t gonna mind me leavin’ it here.” Cole returned with a grin, placing the communicator on the ground. “I’d come runnin’ if you asked me to, sweet thing. Remember that.”
Genji watched with blurred vision as the man he waited his whole life for stepped towards the railing of the balcony and got ready to disappear into the night like he was nothing more than a figment of his imagination.
Cole paused, looking over his shoulder, “I meant it when I said I could love you, sweetheart. I still mean it now.”
