With a burned hand and an healing cut on his neck, John is in no condition to take care of himself. Thankfully, despite the bitterness festering in his insides, Tim makes an impulsive decision and decides to take Jonathan home and they share one last moment of softness.

He does want it. Christ, does Tim want nothing more than to curl up in his own bed in his own flat with the mug Danny had gotten him from somewhere in South America filled with something warm. But he’s not at home. He’s at the Institute. And Martin’s tea has always been a little too sweet for his taste and he wants it more than he’s ever wanted anything because it’s the closest he can get to something that reminds him of his brother.
Tim blinks, and in the corner of the darkness, a clown stands hunched and staring at him, blood dripping from its eyes and landing in a puddle on the floor.

After Jonah's trick and the Change, Jon and Martin decide that they must save the world, whatever the cost. With the help of both the Spiral and Web avatars, they take matters into their own hands, planning to travel back in time and fix things. The idea was to return to where it all started, take over their past selves bodies and put a stop to Elias's scheme, saving their friends along the way.
But trusting Helen and Annabelle, avatars that feed on the fears of madness and manipulation, may not have been the wisest choice.

While the player struggles to figure out a way to return what they had until now thought to be fictional characters to their respective games, it ends up being just as much of a struggle to stop them from turning their town into a smoking crater in the meanwhile, and that’s not even mentioning what went wrong with the one game that didn’t send any characters into their world or the dreadful things that lurk beyond their computer...

Rather than dying after being unmade by Helen, Michael is pushed out of the Distortion and pops back up in Daisy's safehouse, terrifying both him and its current inhabitants.
