Summary
"Tonight, Astarion has accepted that not only does he have friends, one of them happens to be Wyll gods-damned Ravengard.
It took time, to say the least. Wyll was less than thrilled to learn about Astarion's affliction when he, ah, revealed it. Astarion was similarly displeased about Wyll's monster-hunting, devil-pacting situation. They tolerated each other simply to avoid cereme- cemer- ugh, the whole tentacleization thing. Astarion generally spent those early evenings hunting or resting, anyway, which were decidedly solitary activities.
But then they reached the city, and something started to shift."
--
Astarion's and Wyll's friendship slowly develops over Act III (and so does Astarion's and Gale's relationship!).

Summary
Astarion watched her from the shadows, his keen gaze catching the way her soft body moved as she worked, the little roll of her stomach when she leaned forward. She was so alive—warm, kind, and heartbreakingly unaware of her effect on others. Gale was seated nearby, seemingly focused on a book, but Astarion wasn’t fooled. The wizard’s eyes flicked to Tav often, lingering when she laughed softly at her own thoughts or tucked a stray lock of hair behind her ear as she worked.
It was intolerable, really. The way Gale looked at her—his Tav—as if she were some celestial object of study. And yet, Astarion couldn’t summon the venom he wanted to. After all, Gale wasn’t wrong. Tav was remarkable, and she wasn't his.. not yet.

Summary
"Ah, now Minsc understands. He has seen that twinkle in your eyes on many-a-person before. One that wishes for pantsless bodies and soft beds." Either Minsc is politely ignoring how red Gale's face must be turning, or he is enjoying every new shade of scarlet he's managing to pull from his burning cheeks. The smug little smile on his lips seems to indicate the latter. "You do not need to hide your desires from me, little wizard, you are far from the first to want Minsc to touch in all of the tender places. I am happy to do it if you ask, though I do wonder– is it not our whiny vampire that has caught your interest? It is him you trail like a lost puppy-dog, not Minsc."
The day after defeating Orin, Gale is left at the Elfsong in the care of Minsc to recover from the ordeal. Unfortunately, the process of healing from being a Bhaalists's pincushion for a tenday is only a fraction of what's eating away at him. Now he's stuck at camp, hopelessly pining after their rogue, and grappling with just how damnably burdensome he is on the rest of his companions...
Or- Gale gets a perspective change and a lesson in love by being folded by the big dumb ranger. Yippie! 🎉

Summary
After spending a lifetime trying to be good enough to deserve love, Gale is unfamiliar with the idea that he is enough as he is. The tantalizing pull of the Crown, of all that power, the ability to become something better than himself, is nearly overwhelming.
Or,
Gale finally comes to an important realization. Therin is pleased about it.
------
He paused. The air was rife with emotion, a silent promise—Gale knew exactly what the elf meant, in that moment. An inexplicable connection had drawn them together—as if the nautiloid were fate, a necessity to bring them together. And in that moment, he came to a realization—a rather important one, one that he kicked himself for not having sooner.
He was doing it again.
Just like with Mystra, he was trying to become something more than himself. Something divine. Something worthy. He was trying ascend, for Therin.

Summary
Elminster delivers the news of Mystra's demand of Gale - blow himself up, and all will be forgiven. Unlike Gale, Therin has a thing or two to say about that.
Or,
Therin isn't about to let Gale go and blow himself up for the goddess that cast him away.
-----------------
“You’re not seriously considering going through with this?” Therin was livid, to say the fucking least. Gale was taken aback at the severity of his tone—the elf’s ire had never been directed to anyone in their camp, not even when Lae’zel and Shadowheart had their little scuffle a tenday ago. When he met Therin’s eyes, he saw the rage storming behind them, brow furrowed in confusion at just what the wizard was trying to propose.

Summary
Gale never got the words out.
Not in the meadow. Not under the stars. Not with the orb pulsing in his chest like a second heart ready to break.
Then a note. A robe. A meeting under moonlight.
Eilkthyria leads him to a forgotten tower where the veil between worlds feels thin, and magic hums through the air like a second language. There’s wine. Music. A dance beneath the stars.
Maybe tonight, he’ll finally find the courage to tell her everything—or lose the chance forever.

Summary
He bent forward, lowering his voice into a grumbly murmur. “I happen to have a lovely tower with a splendid view of the harbor.”
“You are inviting me to your home?” I recoiled in surprise, sniffing as my tears dried.
He cleared his throat awkwardly, looking away. “Ah, is that perhaps a bit too forward?”
I shook my head, holding up my hands. “It is just that you do not know me very well.”
“But I would like to. Get to know you well, that is.”~~~
Four years after the events that led to the death of the elder brain- and the destruction of the Crown of Karsus- Gale accepted the offer to be a tenured professor at Blackstaff Academy. Both his former explosivity and his reputation as a hero of the Gate kept his students under control and the staff certain of his credibility. But when the new herbalist supplying the Academy finds him less than savory upon introduction, Gale attempts to fix his impression with varying degrees of success.

Summary
Gale had desperately clasped Astarion's wrist, preventing him from fully wrenching away. From fleeing. And for a brief moment Astarion was ready to lash out with all of the feral fury a starving spawn had to offer.
The memory of that scorching touch was like a scar. The imprint of his lightly calloused, bare palm on Astarion's slender wrist was an invisible, white-hot brand upon his flesh. It was only Gale's wide, worried eyes and immediate surrender of Astarion's captured limb that saved him from being torn to ribbons by long-forgotten vampiric claws.
He loathed it. Touching and being touched.
People did not touch Astarion and survive.
Astarion did not touch people destined to live.
---
Astarion has a complicated relationship with physical touch. It brings up a wellspring of memories best left forgotten, and he doesn't even know if he could enjoy it anymore should he ever let anyone close enough to try... or five times Astarion sees Gale being held and has a lot of difficult feelings about it + the one time he does it himself and knows exactly how he feels about it.

Summary
And then there were his clothes, those unnecessarily tight vests and high collars, as if to remind everyone that he was more refined than them. His entire attitude—his lilting tone, his insipid arrogance, the way he sucked on his own fangs absentmindedly, like he was forever savoring some unspoken amusement.
And his scent. By the gods, his scent.
A mix of bergamot, a hint of rosemary—maybe a touch of aged brandy, warm and sharp all at once. It was heavy,it lingered,it clung to the air around him. It was vile. Absolutely, infuriatingly vile. She hated it.She hated him.
