Summary
It's been a tough week. That's always the case for Jessie, James, and Meowth when a month winds down and the rent deadline approaches. Just a day after Jessie and James have a stress-induced fight in their cramped apartment, James receives a cruel letter from his estranged parents. How did they find him here, in what was supposed to be a safe place? It's too much all at once, and James has a full-blown panic attack—his first in years. Luckily, Jessie's there to help.

Summary
Team Rocket are the bad guys. Brock knows that as well as anybody. What he can't figure out is why they act the way they do. The villainy just doesn't make sense for three people who seem to care about Pokémon—and each other—so deeply. The petty thievery, the name-calling and bickering, the larger crimes between their short-lived odd jobs... it doesn't add up.
Ash seems content to just call them crooks. Misty doesn't care why they do it; she's just sick and tired of it. To his younger companions, Team Rocket are worthless.
Brock has other ideas. Maybe they just need some direction. Maybe they need a chance. Or maybe, he thinks, all those three need is a decent meal.

Sometime in the first couple of seasons, Jessie, James, and Meowth attend a party at Team Rocket's headquarters. James hates these things, and tonight is especially difficult for him once Jessie gets distracted and disappears for a bit. James gets drunk — too drunk — in her absence and feels horribly guilty when his teammates have to take care of him. At least they're nice to him, though he struggles to be very nice to himself.

OR, an AU where Team Rocket as an organisation does not exist, and our couple only meets in adulthood. OR OR, I tried to make an interesting AU for a story and accidentally recreated ‘Lady and the Tramp’.
