The past several months have been difficult on the old Wolf Witcher of Kaer Morhen. After losing half of his family to the violence and destruction of Voleth Meir, and then the rest leaving in the spring, Vesemir has been trying to put his life together while everyone is gone.
When away on a trip, he returns to find something is off. On edge and alert, the witcher discovers someone- or something is bumping around in the laboratory and he is determined to find out what it wants and how it found his home.

Yennefer and Jaskier have never seen quite eye to eye, but they're able to put that aside when they learn that Geralt and Ciri are in danger from a witch of legend, as well as an entire Nilfgaardian army.
As of 2/26/2025 THIS IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION; I've been unhappy for a while with certain parts of this story, and my opinion has changed on certain aspects. The heart of the story will still be the same, but I wanna polish up some scenes

Summary
Jaskier knew something changed him that day on the mountain, he just didn't know what. Now that Jaskier is traveling with Eskel, he tries to figure it out with the Witcher and they eventually make it to Kaer Morhen where Jaskier and Geralt have to figure out how to live with each other for the winter.
Jaskier also is struggling with controlling his new found magic too and with Geralt being around, it's hard for him to focus on it.

Lambert sat back in his chair and picked up his drink. He sipped at it unconcernedly, seemingly oblivious to the calculating stare he was being levelled with. Geralt looked away from him, gaze back on the fire. When the air of wariness started to seep out of his countenance, Lambert broke in again:
"Say, Geralt," he remarked, in a chipper tone. "How's your bard?"
Geralt tensed up in a millisecond.
"My bard," he repeated, turning back to Lambert and levelling him with a stare. It was the kind of look which would send any sane person running away screaming. Lambert just smiled.
After stumbling into Jaskier on their way to Kaer Morhen, Lambert and Eskel confront Geralt.

There is one song that Jaskier never plays when Geralt is around. What he doesn't consider is that the witcher might hear it from someone else. After all, Jaskier is a popular bard by now. The song is what is needed for Geralt to regain his memories of certain things from his past that he had thought he already remembered completely. Needless to say that he had been wrong.

They got it all figured out once. It wasn't easy to say the least. Then, by a twist of fate, it all started over. It seems that this time it will be even more difficult. Especially since they never seem to be in the same place at the same time.

Jaskier avait peur de passer plus de temps à aider Eskel à aller mieux suite à l’attaque ou chanter pour Coen et Lambert que de parler de nouveau avec l’homme. Il n’avait pas souvenir d’avoir échangé le moindre mot personnel avec ce qu’il avait pensé être un ami. Il s’en était fait une raison bien avant d’entrer dans la vielle forteresse.

Yennefer wasn’t paying too much attention the night before, when Jaskier was talking about dying poets. She was too lost in her own fears and hurts to focus on Jaskier- but now what she did hear lingers, leaving a filthy taste on her tongue. Rotten chamomile and moth-eaten linen, the stench of ale and mice.. it floats around her head like a truly awful cloud.
She searches. Yennefer searches for Geralt’s bardling through the streets of Oxenfurt, her attention grabbed by a cut off scream by the tavern she had found him in. While he was screaming then, it was a righteous scream- shouting about the way Geralt broke his heart, putting on a show to cover up his schemes.. that wasn’t a scream anyone wanted to hear, what she just heard.
Violet eyes darken, Yennefer’s stare hardening on the locked tavern’s doors.———
Day nine of angstober! Yennefer tries to find Jaskier and saves him after finding his broken lute. On the way she realises she cares a bit more about Geralt’s bard than she realises.Series
