Summary

Kid purses her lips as she looks back out towards the expansive waters, an endless blue sea stretching out as far as her eyes can make out as it reflects glimmering lights from the slow-setting sun. The weight of the velvet box in her coat pockets is impossible to ignore, and so without much thinking, she allows that box to make her final decision.
Pendulums swing back and forth, steady and consistent as they regulate the world around them. The last thing Kid wants to do is throw that off center.

Getting cast out of the Council of Time was nearly the best thing that had ever happened to kids Hazel "Hat" and Beatrice "Bow". Free to drift in space with their remaining cache of Time Pieces however they saw fit they return to the planet that got them fired in the first place years later, only to find the people they'd dreamed of seeing again barely resemble who they remember. Dead Bird Studio has gone bankrupt, plague haunts the once-beautiful mountains, Bow Kid is being held hostage by the Nyakuza and Subcon Forest is being torn apart by a century-old territorial war brought back from the dead thanks to Hat's interference last time she dared show her face. When Bow is captured and the Snatcher is injured in the ongoing war raging in Subcon, Hat resolves to make right everything they'd left in shambles and maybe find out who or what's behind all this in the first place.
