It was the loss of their respective homes to tyranny that had brought them together. Sil'dih was not Ala Mhigo, nor was Ul'dah Garlemald. Those two tragedies were scarcely comparable, yet she believed to have found a kindred spirit in Ilberd Feare, and he in her, the Warrior of Light. She was no revolutionary with a noble cause, just a bitter woman who longed for revenge against the Sultanate, but they were the same in that they sought justice for the travesties committed against their people.
Ilberd 's touch, when Iaera had at long last permitted herself to recall it, was a brand, white hot, searing itself into her very being, threatening to consume her and Ilberd both. It was love and hate and betrayal, desperation as well as frustration with each other and their chosen courses. He still cared for her, loathe as he was to admit it, nor would he do so ever again.
Gaius', in comparison, was as water, a gentle flow that washed over hurts both old and new with a tenderness and reverence that she once believed the former Legatus to be incapable of.
As far as she was concerned, Ilberd had been right to hate her.

“Which is exactly why I’m not going! I told you months ago that I never wanted to meet your family and I fucking meant it. Your father should be tried for war crimes and I’m not having my face plastered all over the news because I went out to dinner with him,” she spat, stalking over to stand right in front of him. “This isn’t something you can get me to cave over.”

The Warrior of Light has freed all of Ardbert's companions, save one, by the point that a Virtue Hunter stops some sorry sod from hitting on her. Please mind the tag warnings! The majority of this is based around the Shadowbringers Role Quests, but it will dip into Endwalker towards the end!
