He wasn't the one constantly worrying, the one who second-guessed every decision. But Shane's certainty, the way he said it like it was an indisputable fact, made Ryan's stomach do something complicated.

C.C. Tinsley was a man whom few knew and even fewer cared about. Not that he himself cared. The detective believed in his job and believed in his abilities to do it well, and that was that.
So, when an infamous criminal came barging into the only place he would admit to being comfortable in, demanding his presence, Tinsley was understandably surprised.

Neither of the men made very many friends throughout their lives, but they had made considerable lists of enemies. Nobody could have predicted how the two--who probably should have been enemies--turned into some of the best of partners (and maybe even, dare they admit it, friends).
